Israel’s parliamentary election has produced no clear winner, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc falling short of the majority needed to form a government, according to preliminary results.
With nearly 90 percent of votes counted, Netanyahu’s bloc was projected to secure 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset, while the opposition bloc led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot was expected to win 48 seats.
Arab-led parties were projected to secure 19 seats, a historic result that could give them a significant role in determining the country’s next government.
A minimum of 61 seats is required to form a parliamentary majority, leaving neither of the two main blocs in a position to govern independently.
Netanyahu’s Likud party remains the largest party in his political bloc, while Eisenkot’s Yashar party leads the rival alliance.
The election, held on Tuesday, has left Israel facing the prospect of prolonged coalition negotiations as political leaders attempt to secure enough support to form a government.
The strong performance of Arab-led parties could influence coalition discussions, although disagreements over potential cooperation with these parties remain a major obstacle.
Final results are expected later this week, with outstanding ballots, including votes cast by soldiers and diplomats, still being counted.
Cameras in police cells were first promised in 2016, after a death in custody. Last year the police set a new deadline: CCTV in every detention cell by the end of 2025. Even the tender for body cameras is still under evaluation, while two more men have died in custody in the last 7 days. This promise is now a decade overdue. Before the Organised Crimes Bill and the new terrorism bill grant wider powers, the police must first prove they can handle such powers with accountability. Trust must be earned before power is extended.

Has anyone experienced discriminatory gate personnel @Ryanair in Dublin ? I with my family just did and it was shocking. The tone of address and the mishandling of procedure and threatening behavior. Unacceptable for any passenger. First bad experience in Dublin
