A lot of Manchester United fans are protesting for the Glazers and INEOS to leave the club, but honestly, I don't think protests alone are going to change anything.

If United fans are genuinely serious about forcing meaningful change, they need to hit the owners where it actually matters.

Look at Lazio.

Lazio fans have been boycotting home games in protest against owner Claudio Lotito. Their season-ticket numbers reportedly fell from almost 30,000 to fewer than 4,500.

Why?

Because as long as the owners continue receiving the same revenue while fans protest outside the stadium or on social media, there is only so much pressure being applied.

The fans have basically made their absence the protest.

And that is the kind of pressure Manchester United fans need to consider.

INEOS have spent the last couple of years implementing cost-cutting measures, including staff reductions and ticket-price increases, while the club continues to deal with significant financial pressure.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have gone into the season with obvious weaknesses across the squad.

There are positions that needed strengthening, players that needed moving on and a squad that clearly needed serious investment.

Yet we're still talking about cost-cutting and reducing the financial burden.

And let's be honest: nobody forced INEOS to buy into Manchester United.

They chose to come in.

The Glazers chose to remain owners rather than sell the club outright.

So if they are going to control the club, they have to accept the responsibility that comes with it.

Manchester United fans can't keep protesting while simultaneously giving the owners exactly what they want: packed stadiums, ticket revenue and continued commercial income.

If the objective is to force change, the pressure has to actually reach the people making the decisions.

Otherwise, fans are just shouting while the owners carry on doing what they've always done.

Manchester United fans need to decide how serious they are about change.

Either take the Lazio route, or stop pretending that another protest is going to magically change the club.
