I wish our South Asian communities stopped teaching our girls to aspire to marriage as the 'end' goal. It takes so much away away from their educational and personal successes. In the eyes of the community, their worth then gets determined solely on their marital status.

Not to mention the fact that once they reach the 'end' goal, they can be left feeling somewhat lost because they'd spent their entire lives aspiring to be someones wife without truly understanding how that would tie into their personal aspirations.
