Republicans are very concerned about one woman who was killed by a migrant. If she had been killed in a mass shooting by an American citizen with an AR-15 they wouldn't give a shit. Their response would be to loosen up gun laws even more.
The benefit of *not being lead poisoned* is not speculative. It is enormous.
And because lead poisoning leads to irreversible cognitive harm, massive economic loss, and even higher crime rates, this work represents one of the best returns on public investment ever observed.

I’m in Kyiv to raise the alarm to the democratic world - we must make sure Ukraine wins this war.
The UK has stepped up to do more than ever, with our largest military support package to date. Every nation must now do the same and ensure freedom triumphs over tyranny.
In February of this year, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian chemical attacks have become truly massive.
If for all these two years, Russia has cumulatively carried out 1,068 chemical attacks (documented cases), then in the past month alone, the occupants have carried out over 250 chemical attacks: 244 cases of bombing with gas grenades, one case of combat use of gas - gas attack, and five more - with the use of other munitions with chemical substance, Defense Express reports.
The grenades were of two types: RGR ("irritant hand grenade") and RG-VO ("hand grenade - poisonous substance"). The active ingredient of the latter was chloroacetophenone.
"Chloroacetophenone is completely banned by the Geneva Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare of 1925. It is also prohibited for use in combat conditions by the UN General Assembly resolution of 1969," the press officer explained.
By the way, the Russian Federation is still a signatory to both documents.

I thank them for everything. I thank them for multiplying our common strength.
Moms Demand Action Executive Director Angela @FerrellZabala breaks down why another Trump presidency would undo the incredible progress we’ve made on gun safety.
Take a moment to listen, then text PLEDGE to 644-33 to pledge to vote for Gun Sense Candidates who are committed to ending our nation’s gun violence epidemic.
A reminder that Florida Republicans are not simply “pro gun”.
They are “pro gun violence”.
There is no other way to explain their insistence on laws which they know will result in more people dying.
Even in medical emergencies.
Even in medical emergencies.
Even in medical emergencies.
Even in medical emergencies.
Even in medical emergencies.
Women will be left to die on hospital beds.
We’ve now had more mass shootings in 2024 than there have been days in the year.
We know what we have to do, we just need the courage to do it.
Common sense gun safety reforms. Now.
I assure you, if the U.S. throws out a president who pressured Israel to offer ceasefires and protect civilians and replaces him with a president who literally has Israeli settlements named after him, no one in the world will conclude voters like you care about Palestine.
