@WorldWarIII1987 BTW, there was a BOMARC site at Lakehurst that self immolated back when it was operational. The physics package was ruptured as a result of a fuel fire. The fencing keeping the site isolated was visible from Rt 539 up to the 80s and possibly 90s (don't recall exactly).
@WorldWarIII1987 Well done. Makes me sad to think it was all so very possible in 1961 as well as 1971, 1981 and quite possibly 1991. Could it still be possible in 2031? Or 2026? ๐ข
@USN_Submariner Took a school trip to her in Griton when I was in college around 1985/86. It was definitely a possibility as a career choice for me. Didn't work out, but I still have some swag from the visit (like a ships patch decal) in a box somewhere.
@WorldWarIII1987 Missile.Command was a favorite. And I spent many quarters to learn the pattern and finger taps (IYKYK). I never did but my college roommate once broke 1M and got the 200 free cities. He just walked away and let me lose them all.
