THE SUN MUST APOLOGIZE!

Yesterday morning, I got word from a friend in Paidha who declared with the solemnity of a town crier, "It's too hot -hotter than a billy!" (Honestly, who knew billys were the new standard of heat measurement?)

Meanwhile our Kenyan neighbors say, "it is boiling hot." Straight to the point. No metaphors. No sugarcoating. Just boiling. (See map below) Like water before the tea bag hits it.

Fado, a friend said about the sweltering heat in Uganda, "it's like we boiled off the surface of the earth."

Now, the real question: How are people coping? Because, let’s be honest, this heat brings out extremes in fashion creativity - or catastrophe. I’m all for the "Don’t let the heat beat you; rise above it" mantra. But please, let’s rise above it tastefully. Not like Kanye's former wife -bless her heart -who sometimes dresses like she lost a bet.

And of course, the conspiracy theorists are already out here doing what they do best -connecting dots that don’t exist. “This is the Woke agenda, manipulating the weather!”
(Yes, because clearly, climate change is too mainstream an explanation.)

In these times, anything is out of the norm. You might even see an unexpected tweet "HOW MUCH IS THe SUN?" 😳😳😳😳😳

Followed by a prompt reply from conformist saying "...supreme one, what I know is, the Moon is more expensive than the sun. But only you can buy it on Ebay."

Them other yes-men chiming in with messages like: "The sun can't threaten you. Only you can dim it." 🫢🫢

Not to be left out, another one demands "...The Sun Must apologise to you immediately!"

Now consider this. Seven planets - Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, Mercury, and Saturn will all be briefly visible in the evening sky this week in a phenomenon called the '#PlanetaryParade ' and you won't see this again until 2040.

Gundi might as well buy them all. Or order them to line up straight ala Chaka Mchaka!

Anyways, jokes aside, this is the time to drink water like you’re auditioning for a hydration commercial; Have a siesta if you can – call it, a boss-approved nap? Dress for Comfort - Think airy, breezy, and for goodness' sake, appropriate; Chase the shade and lastly, find joy in the mornings and evenings.

At the end of the day, it’s all about inner peace. The sun may scorch, but our spirits remain unbothered. So brave, and embrace it. Remember -inspite of the heat, the grind still goes on, and dust or no dust, Kampala Ewooma!

Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay witty. And -oh, keep dancing.
