If your UGC coach is still telling you to charge for usage rights they are so behind what's actually happening in our industry and you should questions their "expertise".

We've been seeing this for some time now, the unwillingness to pay for usage rights.

Brands and agencies want unlimited or perpetual rights and this is now becoming the standard.

"but Keeley they should have to pay to use my content forever!"

Look, I get it. I understand why this seems like it makes sense.

Brand wants to use your content "forever" and you want a big fat cheque.

But the reality is your content is not going to be used forever.

The content will fatigue.
The brand will start new campaigns, with new messaging, for new products and stop using your content.
It's a hassle to keep coming back to you for usage.
You're not a A-list actor...

So this is why it doesn't make sense for them to pay for usage rights. This is the actual reality for marketing in 2025 moving forward.

So if a brand or agency asks for your usage rate, go ahead and charge per month.

But if they say they want perpetual and your digging your heels in your loosing money—could be A LOT of money in the long term—and potentially severing a what could be great partnership.

This is also one of the ways you can position yourself as being easy to work with...give them the usage without being a pain in the ass lol
