I remember last year discussing with a couple of my friends that when BTS came back they would have to pave the way again to create a model for an idol group that continues making music together long into adulthood. That’s what we’re seeing them do right now. +
agree. this type of behavior reduces an artist’s native tongue to a mere sonic aesthetic. ‘Well, the songs have the exact same meaning,’ yes but you are inflating the value of an entirely different element: you don't care about the message; you just prefer the aesthetic texture of the said language 🤷🏻♀️ b/c or else how are you able to define what’s “authentic” or not if you aren’t native yourself? or are you just too used to consuming culture as a curated product? 🤔
whether you want to call this a form of modern exoticization or not, one thing is certain: it is an incredibly shallow way to engage with art & message.
@waemewae Even if there were problems, people always knew it was the organizers’ responsibility to fix things since they were contract to be in charge but i dont know why, suddenly when it’s in korea, it’s the company’s fault?
@waemewae I can only speak from my experience and all of the concerts (ly, agust d and hots) I’ve been to had been amazing, i was going solo and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. The places were always crowded but the cities/organizers in charge had always stepped up
"SWIM isnt risky." IT IS. Its the most unpredicatable and risk-taking thing BTS has EVER done. They valued their ARTISTIC VISION over TIKTOK VIRALITY. You are here saying BTS needs the following three metrics:
1. Huge Numbers.
2. Virality with great promo
3. Critical Acclaim
ALL AT ONCE.
You are LITERALLY describing SWIM.
NO ONE in the industry saw this coming. BTS releasing an alternative pop track with an INCREDIBLE message behind it. The song created a global MOVEMENT of KEEP SWIMMING. It became a phenomenon.
You are saying SWIM doesnt have "personal substance". Are we listening to the same song? A song that resonates with BTS' career the most doesnt have "personal substance"? A group who defied all odds and kept swimming to be where they are WONT RESONATE with a song like SWIM?
Cmon now...
“maybe the world feels sad because i’m so happy.”
only kim namjoon could write something that sounds both devastating and hopeful at the exact same time. i love this man from the bottom most pit of my heart.
To all Malaysia ARMY and ARMY attending the BTS in KL concerts.
In light of a recent development with regard to fan projects, we would like to formally address the situation and clarify matters on our side.
We would also like to emphasise that at the end of the day, all projects planned are for BTS and ARMY.
