If your spouse has to be afraid of your reaction before telling you the truth, you have already damaged something important in your marriage.
Maybe they made a mistake. Maybe they spent money they shouldn't have. Maybe they forgot something important. Maybe they disappointed you.
Whatever it is, if your first response is always shouting, insults, threats or intimidation, eventually they will learn to hide things from you.
Then you will complain that your spouse is secretive.
You trained them to become afraid of honesty.
A healthy marriage needs accountability, but it also needs enough emotional safety for people to tell the truth when the truth is uncomfortable.
Marriage is for better, for worse. Not for better, for better.
The vows were never a promise that life would always be convenient. They were a commitment to stand together when life becomes inconvenient.
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,in sickness and in health,to love and to cherish, till death do us part.
Maybe we should take vows more seriously before taking them at all.
Selah.
No, be nice, be kind; whatever they make of it or of you is not your responsibility and shouldn't affect your desire and contribution to the betterment of another person (including the people who think you foolish!).
Do your best (whenever you can) and keep it moving.
@FOnyedire@melv_MD@MeLuvAsh@Kingschiboyigwe No be every woman Dey think like that sha. There are brilliant, intelligent and reasonable ladies all across the country. But there are MANY incredibly daft ones like the one you responded to
This is so real.
I’m a grown man, and I lived in so much poverty that there was no money for enjoyment. The money my parents had was strictly for survival.
My life changed about 2 years ago, and now I have “adult money.” 😂 It’s very, very plenty to me sha.
So I decided that I’m going to start experiencing things I wish I had experienced growing up.
I used the train for the first time this year.
Went to the beach for the first time this year.
Went to the zoo for the first time this year.
Tried an expensive restaurant twice this year.
Started trying different delicacies.
I even had “qwasan” this year. That thing that looks like a burger sha. I think the spelling is croissant. 😂
Omo, the number of ice cream flavours I’ve discovered this year alone. I didn’t even know they had alcoholic ice cream. 😭
I’m planning to learn how to swim this year.
Probably driving too.
Rooftop apartment too. 😂
These things sound very normal, but I’m experiencing some of them for the first time as a grown man.
That’s one thing poverty does to you.
It makes you see only one side of the world that exists.
You spend so much time trying to survive that you don’t even realize there’s a whole world of experiences you’ve never had.
And the scary part is that getting the money doesn’t automatically fix your mind.
I’m still mentally struggling to drop some random habits I picked up from those years.
Sometimes your account has changed, but your brain is still in survival mode.
That’s why I’m so against poverty.
Not because I think money is everything, but because I know what poverty can take away from you.
I’m glad I’m helping people figure things out.
Because poverty is a scary place to be.
But we’ll get there soon.
You'll regret it if you get married, you'll regret it if you don't get married. You'll regret it if you have kids and you'll regret it if you don't. Kierkegaard said this 200 years ago as follows - whatever you choose, you'll regret it, because the problem isn't in your choices, it's in romanticizing your life. A person always finds an untravelled path alluring and mysterious. That's why the issue isn't making the right choice. It's choosing and deciding which regret you'll live with. In life, we must choose our regret.
The mistake is that you are looking for a woman to settle down with and that’s even a wrong motive to enter this dating world with
I always advise talking to more women especially when you are not ready to marry…
That’s how you find someone that is genuine and makes you want to settle down…
Na the woman suppose make you think of settling down not you deciding to settle down and then looking for a woman…
Reverse the mindset, talk to a lot of women, find a woman that makes you want to marry and settle down
Or else, keep talking to more women and enjoying your life
When I met my husband I was naive, innocent, the perfect Catholic girl.
My husband turned me into a Vixen, want0nly excitable, the perfect ashaawoo wife. Was it his fault?
He said yes. So, I gave the printings to him and even gave him 1k for transport.
The bride posted her wedding pictures yesterday, and behold.. the boy who I thought was 17 was actually the groom, and he's in his early 30s. 🤣
