KESPA Cup honest take. Teams are hot swapping tier 1 rosters with development teams based on the schedule and everyone can see it. That’s not a knock on the players. It’s just what the event actually is right now.

And that’s fine. An opt-in online tournament where orgs run young players against LCK competition is genuinely valuable. The problem is positioning it as a top competition, scheduling it into the worst window of the year, and then acting like the lineups don’t tell you everything.

Think we should call it what it is and make it the proving ground. Build the format around new players getting real games and let results mean what they actually mean. Open it up to amateur and streamer teams to maximize viewership. That’s a better event than the one we’re all pretending to have.

Some great ingredients here do exist and next year let’s actually try something new instead of running it back.
