1/2 Demonstrating a live #firedoor test. Both doors look the same; one had installation & specification errors whilst the other is specified & fire-stopped correctly. Correctly specified & installed #firedoors play a vital role in protecting people & #property. Please RT. #fire
This week at the NEC @FireSafetyEvent show we realised a high percentage of people that are currently checking doors most definitely shouldn’t be. If they don’t have the specific knowledge they should stay away from fire doors. https://t.co/3OWxYLNrK5

Looking forward to this event next week https://t.co/CWMHCJUaFA Come over for a chat, and try to find all the faults with the 'perfect' fire door on our stand. No high pressure sales talk - just a genuine desire to improve #firesafety standards everywhere
https://t.co/CoGD1zft2F The number of times I see doors wedged / blocked overnight - paricularly in hospitals - and get laughed at when I explain the risk!
There really is no excuse.

Equally building owners need to take responsibility for their ‘deliberate’ neglect surely?
Incredibly even in new-build we see non-compliance at every turn. Suitable installation seems to be the exception rather than the norm. https://t.co/tzdlrH4RfU
"It is imperative that we see the Treasury making an allocation for such potentially life-critical work.". "There has been a legacy of neglect" @imcilwee in @EveningStandard#Grenfell https://t.co/mYtQDVLXio from
The ‘biggest’ issue with regard to #FireDoors here in the UK I would suggest is wedging / blocking of the doors for convenience.
Any form of maintenance, no matter how small, takes a degree of competence, but anyone can remove a wedge, or move that bin / chair! #kickthewedge https://t.co/qnN3ozpg1R
Anyone ‘shocked’ by the revelation yesterday about the #Grenfell fire doors, look around your workplace.
Devices similar to the one in the picture will have a similar effect - even when removed.

Architects & Specifiers: Please, please, PLEASE don't use MDF for fire door frames. It may have benefits but the problems it brings far outweigh the benefits.
