Psychology says some people avoid socializing not because they hate people, but because they can read them too well. They walk into a room and immediately sense the fake laughs, the hidden agendas, the performances. Their nervous system doesn’t misread the signal, it just refuses to ignore it. Small talk feels like a tax they didn’t agree to pay. Forced smiles cost them energy that takes hours to recover.
They’re not broken. They’re calibrated differently. They don’t avoid people. They avoid emotional labor that leads nowhere. When they do connect, it’s deep, intentional, real. No masks. No games. Fewer friends doesn’t mean loneliness. It means higher standards.
That’s not antisocial behavior. That’s emotional intelligence.
what is there to say. they cannot solve my problems or make me happy. talking is tiring. idc for unuseful sympathy. also not particularly interested in hearing anything they have to say. it’s tiring to talk, it’s tiring to listen
I love my girlfriend on a somewhat absurd level, completely without explanation. I'm a fan of her, an admirer of her, and I'm proud of her. I love her smile, her voice, her way, her quirks, and even the little things that probably only I notice. But above all, I love her soul.
Keep your problems smaller than your life. A flat tire is a flat tire. A bad meeting is a bad meeting. A canceled flight is just an extra two hours. These things become catastrophes when you let them. But they stay manageable when you remember the depth of your real life- the people you love, the work you care about, the beautiful years still ahead. Zoom out. Fit your reaction to the size of the problem.
Wait till you meet the ones who turn off their read receipts and last seen.
They have no desire to be seen. You’ll never know if they’ve seen your message, and they don’t care whether you’ve seen theirs.
They’re fully committed to disappearing peacefully.
i swear depression gives you brain damage. No cap. Like, i feel like i’ve lost so much brain capacity after the really, really bad depressive episodes i’ve had in the past few years. My memory is so, so, so bad now. i can’t recall anything. i feel so dumb all of the time…
Suicidal ideation, for many, isn’t about death.
It’s about relief.
From shame.
From feeling overwhelmed constantly. From feeling like a fucking burden.
The goal isn’t always “not wanting to be alive”
It’s just not wanting to live like this.
