Hi @MumbaiPolice a very strange and disturbing thing happened with me today at Colaba. I was casually taking some street photos and videos when a police officer stopped by and prohibited me from taking videos using a gimbal and a mirrorless camera.

I am in fear because the police officer told me that he would either take my gimbal away or shatter it to pieces if he sees me using it again.

I can't even find an application form or a solution. Hence I sincerely request you to help me @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice

I did my research and found out that film recording, studios and big companies need permission. A hobbyist or photography enthusiast can click pictures or take videos at public places without any formal procedure.

I work hard on weekdays, pay my taxes and abide by all rules. I don't wish to unintentionally break any. I would like to pursue my hobbies on weekends without being bullied or harassed.

I apologised to him and kept my gimbal inside the bag. I also requested him to let me know of the process to seek permission for recording videos in South Mumbai. He said that it's a simple process and I'll be able to find it online.

I would like to reconfirm from you. Please let me know if there is any application I need to fill out as a plain and simple young artist.
Am not a director, not a filmmaker just a middle class boy who bought a camera and a gimbal with my hard earned money only to be harassed.

I even went to the Colaba police station at 6:45 p.m. to gain permission only to find out that no such process exists.
