This person submitted a FOIA request to his City for HIS OWN LICENSE PLATE (Flock Data) and was DENIED due to "privacy concerns."

I REPEAT: When a man requested FLOCK FOOTAGE of HIS OWN CAR, the CITY claimed it was a PRIVACY VIOLATION and DENIED his request.

So Flock can SPY on you in a mass surveillance state but YOU cannot even see YOUR OWN data or surveillance footage of YOU YOURSELF.

License plate readers have been around for decades. A camera snapped a plate, checked it against a list of stolen cars, and forgot what it saw.

Limited tool, limited concern. Few people objected because there wasn't much to object to.

Flock's cameras are a different device entirely. These use AI to build a fingerprint of your vehicle: make, model, color, dents, bumper stickers, roof racks etc. They capture images of drivers that can later be run through facial recognition. Every capture flows into a cloud database, a permanent and searchable archive of where you've been (where cops, without a warrant, can go on a fishing expedition).

And Flock is now merging all of it with Social Security numbers, credit history, and property records, enriching the data set far beyond what a license plate reader could ever do.

Think of it as the difference between a dumb phone and a smartphone. Old plate readers were dumb phones: one function, no memory, no network. Flock is smartphone-grade surveillance, loaded with apps, connected to everything, learning more with every capture.

A tool that flags a stolen car is one kind of power. A permanent, AI-enriched dossier of every driver's movements, faces included, is a vastly different kind. And it has been foisted on society without debate, let alone consent.
