The Coup that was planned from over a year ago…
It was planned well, waiting for major policies to pass.
Now Burnham is taking credit for what has already passed in Parliament or is under way.
A Summer of announcements that weren’t Burnham’s at all.

@LabourBerry@LabourList@andyburnham To me they don’t look as happy as they used to be - something’s missing from all MP’s not just the front bench.
Too much backlash perhaps.
This is the EU deal that Keir Starmer announced a year ago. It is the same deal that Burnham announced in Parliament today.
The same deal will be continued by Burnham.
These MP’s were cheering him that day and the same MP’s were cheering Burnham today for the same deal.
@JenniferLa98066@Steven_Swinford Belgium won’t allow that, they already said.
The EU wants to avoid wasting time, money, and political capital on an application that does not have long-term domestic stability.
Yesterday Andy Burnham made a deliberate and clear statement that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Today Stephen Doughty is pushing the official media line contradicting the Prime Minister that they didn’t.
Burnham is clearly laying the groundwork for rejoining by casting doubt on the result and throwing red meat to his base, but in the interim he now has serious questions to answer on the nature and scope of Russian interference.
I would say that wouldn't i but I'm sure Burnham won't last 3 yrs
His arrogance on full display at the Yorshire Post, with a third of Starmers skills, criticising a man who knew what it took to be PM, and accusing him of what he is guilty of + loose lipped chats-Observer+Podcast
@implausibleblog Starmer did the Rycroft review. He even announced interference on his last speech outside no 10.
Burnham is a lightweight and copies everything including policies from Starmer.
A Labour minister verified this morning that “The attempts were unsuccessful.”
@LukeTryl Oh please and busman found the groundwork ready. Hence why he’s repeating Starmer’s policies. Even Devolution is not Burnham’s. It passed parliament in April 2026.
Starmer even froze train fares from going up.
Even Social Care is in the 2024 Manifesto.
Where have you been?
@LukeTryl Trying what? All he did all Summer was repeat Starmer’s policies that Labour MP’s already announced these past two years.
He’s utterly useless and a copycat.
