@patrick_oshag Ray D. Madoff’s book “The Second Estate.” Americans need to know more about taxes. I don’t agree with everything she writes, but I concur that there should be inheritance tax. You should interview her.

Today @elonmusk most likely will become world's first (paper) trillionaire. Focus less on the milestones of his personal net worth and more on the goal of his capital. It's my understanding that Elon Musk’s true ambition isn't to stand alone as a trillionaire—it is to solve the grand challenges of scarcity and exploration. Elon Musk wants to make everyone a trillionaire.
Thomas Jefferson wrote to John Adams that the United States should not follow the model of European artificial aristocracy based on birth and wealth, but it should pursue natural aristocracy based on talent and virtue.
This short great book, printed by @vintagebooks, was written before World War 2. Yet it remains actual and is much better than many current books on history and history writing.
“The Historian’s Craft” by Marc Bloch in one phrase is—understanding the present by looking at the past.
Three thumbs up!
@Jonny5AB@2nisi@lea_ypi Capital goes where the comparative advantage is. Sometimes comparative advantage is weather and sea. But Albanians have to be careful because other nations have weather and sea too. So comparative advantage is not absolute— just relative. Ypi understands these things. 😜
Ibrahim Rugova was a towering figure of late-20th-century Albanian politics. He led Kosovo's decade-long nonviolent resistance against Serbian rule, guiding the people of Kosovo through a period of brutal oppression until the KLA & NATO brought liberation in 1999. But while his political legacy is undeniable, his work as an intellectual & literary critic frequently goes unnoticed. In her thoroughly investigated and brilliant essay for @newlinesmag, @suzana_vu dives deep into this lesser-known side of Rugova, offering a meticulous portrait of his (intellectual) mind. Every single word of this essay is worth reading!
Fantastic job, Suzana Vuljevic!

@albanselami@lea_ypi Wow. That is quite an absurd scenario, but even if you’re right: what about the salaries and collected taxes by the state?! It’s all about comparative advantages— Albania has the beautiful land, investors have the necessary capital that Albania doesn’t have (yet). Win-win.
@Andi8921@kameladajaku@lea_ypi Leave the land barren. I'm sure it will return much more. 😢
Have you ever heard about multiplier effect?!
Financial illiteracy wrapped up in ideological dogma is the worst kind of illiteracy.
Laws and rules for every investor, but investors aren't Albania's problem. Wake up!
@kameladajaku@lea_ypi Xhizus!
If you're an insider in a corruptive investment, then you're corrupted too.
I'm willing to debate you whenever and wherever you want about investing. Win-win investments are always good. They're especially good for scribes like Ypi who sit all day long & theorize. :)
@kameladajaku@lea_ypi I am not going to debate with you on Ypi's wall, but capital is capital and rules should be respected. No need to persevere. Ypi's article doesn't reflect your concerns. Her wind mill is Trump and "imperialistic power". I don't care about ideologies and hypocritical ideologues.
@kameladajaku@lea_ypi No, I don’t. I agree with you. There should be transparency, feasibility and astuteness. But anti-investment climate because of ideological biases should be judged harshly too.
@kameladajaku@lea_ypi OMG!! 😢😢
Investing is not selling. You monetize an unproductive asset to generate taxes, income, and appreciation, which in turn help the domestic economy accumulate capital and make it a part of the productivity bundle.
