On July 24, a Russian guided aerial bomb hit Latvia’s Honourary Consulate in Sloviansk, Donetsk region.

"This is yet another example of Russia’s blatant violation of international law and its disregard for the protection of civilian and consular premises," Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said.

"We will immediately inform the relevant state agencies and make every effort to ensure that those responsible for this barbaric act are identified and brought to justice."

Fortunately, the Honourary Consul has not been harmed.

Strong international responses to this terror is essential.

We condemn the terrorist attacks by the Russian Federation against civilian cargo ships and Ukraine’s port infrastructure in the Black Sea, which flagrantly violate international law and the principle of freedom of navigation, posing a direct threat to global food security.

Moscow has chosen the path of escalation in the Black Sea and will stop at nothing to achieve its terrorist goals.
In this regard, Russia’s official warning to shipping companies regarding the dangers of navigation in its exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea is a cause for particular concern. The Russian statement may signal the preparation of provocations targeting vessels bound for Russian ports.

For safety reasons, we call on shipowning companies to temporarily suspend service to Russian ports in the Black Sea until the situation stabilizes. Under current circumstances, particularly following the Russian statement on navigation risks, it is impossible to guarantee the protection of vessels and their crews.

We reiterate Russia’s sole responsibility for the worsening security situation in the Black Sea region.

Ukraine will employ all available means to ensure freedom of navigation to Ukrainian ports and to protect maritime lanes, port infrastructure, civilians, and national security, exercising its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Russia keeps choosing terror, killing at least 11 civilians and injuring dozens more. Homes, streets, and the places where people live and work were targeted.

A Russian missile attack on the Kyiv region has killed at least six people and injured dozens more. Rescue workers remain at the scene, searching through the rubble and helping those affected.

In Sloviansk, Donetsk region, Russia struck the city with aerial bombs, killing five people and injuring nine others. Residential buildings, vehicles, and the building of a foreign consulate were damaged.

Every Russian strike ruins more lives and leaves more families grieving. Every attack is yet another indication that Russia continues to reject international law and basic human values, opting for terror instead.

Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defence to protect civilians.

Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha warned against falling for the false narrative that Russian strikes are driven by Ukrainian actions elsewhere.

Russian terror against the Black Sea maritime corridor is not a “response” or “retaliation” for anything.

💬 “Russia’s terror campaign against civilian shipping didn’t start in July 2026. Since 2022, Moscow has systematically targeted Ukrainian ports, infrastructure, agricultural exports, civilian vessels, crews, and grain storage facilities.

Since 2022, Russian strikes have damaged or destroyed 1,054 port infrastructure facilities, hit 232 civilian vessels, and killed or injured 307 civilians. Without any “pretexts”, “causes”, or “justifications” for its terror.

The Ukrainian maritime corridor is a vital lifeline for global food security. Since its launch in September 2023, it has moved 208.9 million tons of cargo – including 123.8 million tons of grain – feeding families across more than 55 countries. And that is exactly what Russia is targeting.

By weaponizing hunger, Russia is attacking not just Ukraine, but millions of people worldwide. Such actions cannot be justified.

We call for a strong, unified international response. Demand that Moscow immediately cease its attacks on freedom of navigation and stop trying to turn the Black Sea into another Strait of Hormuz,” Andrii Sybiha stated.

Ukraine continues applying long‑range sanctions in response to Russian strikes. Last night, the warriors of our Defense Forces hit targets across different regions of Russia that are fueling this war.

Once again, a plant in Kirov was struck – the one supplying components for the weapons Russia uses to attack our people. That’s about 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine’s border. Also hit were an oil refinery in Tyumen, a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg, and a fuel and lubricants depot in Rostov‑on‑Don. We also achieved very strong results with long‑range strikes in the Caspian Sea – including vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran, as well as a warship.

On July 23, Russia has struck the city of Pavlohrad in Ukraine's Dnipro region, hitting a food industry enterprise. Three people were killed and dozens were injured, including a two-year-old child.

Russia also attacked Kherson with guided aerial bombs, damaging residential buildings, a regional children's hospital and educational institutions, and injuring civilians. It also struck critical infrastructure in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions and launched missile attacks on the Odesa region.

Russia continues to wage war against civilians, bringing death, pain, and destruction to Ukrainian communities. The international community must increase pressure on the aggressor and strengthen Ukraine's air defence capabilities, including through the provision of missiles for Patriot systems.

Aged 22, Mykhailo is already a skilled warrior, awarded the Order for Courage 🇺🇦

At 18, he was denied mobilisation as being too young – but still achieved his goal. After month-long training, Mykhailo set off as an assault rifleman on a frontline hotspot in the Donetsk region.

"Before my first battle, I wondered how people usually behave, and how I would behave," the defender shares. After a combat injury, he mastered drone operation, returning to the ranks with no delay. Since then, Mykhailo's unit has reached maximum efficiency, with hundreds of neutralised Russian invaders on account. And what is most important – dozens of saved comrades.

"A comrade is more than a friend from civilian life. This is a proven person who will definitely cover your back in any circumstances," Mykhailo firmly believes. A golden value of his, brotherhood, helps him stay strong and motivated, showing great results on the battlefield.

Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This follows President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision as part of a wider initiative to reconfigure the Armed Forces' command structure.

President Zelenskyy also thanked the outgoing Commander-in-Chief, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, for his service, highlighting his leadership during the defence of Kyiv, the Kharkiv counteroffensive, and the Kursk operation.

Ukraine's ongoing military operations, including long-range strikes and the mid-strike programme, will continue without disruption. The military leadership will also focus on implementing an updated defence strategy, advancing corps reform, strengthening the supply of weapons, drones, and equipment, enhancing the protection of Ukraine's skies against Russian attacks, and improving the mobilisation process.

💬 "We all want the same thing: to defeat the enemy and create the conditions – on the front line and through pressure on Russia – that would allow us to force Russia into peace," the President said.

🇺🇦🇺🇳 UNESCO has inscribed “The Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora” on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

The decision was adopted today during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (48WHC).

💬 "We welcome this decision. The property, located in Ukrainian Crimea, which is temporarily occupied by Russia, is under constant threat and is being damaged and ruined by Russian occupation authorities," Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister stressed.

The decision also calls on the international community to strengthen cooperation to prevent the illicit trafficking of cultural property originating from temporarily occupied Crimea.

🧩With the Puzzle of Unity series, we continue exploring different parts of Ukraine through their cultural and historical symbols. Today's story is about chaikas – the key to Ukraine's historic asymmetric strategy in the Black Sea.

Since 2022, Ukraine has effectively shifted the balance of power in the Black Sea through the use of unmanned maritime drones. Their "ancestors" were the chaikas – small, fast Cossack vessels of the 16th and 17th centuries designed for swift raids in coastal waters.

Like modern maritime drones, these boats embodied an asymmetric naval strategy that compensated for an adversary's numerical and resource advantage.

Short fact: In Ukrainian, the word chaika refers both to this type of Cossack vessel and to a seagull, although there is no proven connection between the two.

Ukraine struck key Russian military logistics targets on July 22 – logistics hubs in Russia's Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, used to supply drone components, navigation equipment and military gear. Another oil depot was also hit.

In the Black and Azov seas, Ukraine struck a tanker and four cargo vessels belonging to Russia's shadow fleet.

We thank Ukraine's Defence Forces for these results.

Ukraine has put forward every proposal for peace. Russia must be compelled to choose diplomacy.

Moral blindness is costly.

Grateful to the European Commission and EACEA for their principled decision to terminate the €2 million grant for the Venice Biennale.

There can be no EU funding for initiatives that provide a platform for Russia while it continues its brutal war of aggression against Ukraine. As Russian missiles and bombs kill civilians and destroy Ukraine's cultural heritage on the every day basis, Europe must remain unwavering in defending its values and denying legitimacy to the aggressor on the international arena.

120 years ago, Ukrainian writer, editor, and public figure Olena Teliha was born.

When the Second World War reached Kyiv, Teliha left Poland and returned to Ukraine. Despite the immense risks, she worked in Kyiv as head of the Ukrainian Writers' Union and editor of a Ukrainian literary journal.

She was arrested and executed by the Nazis at Babyn Yar alongside her husband.

On the wall of her cell in the Kyiv Gestapo headquarters, she left her final message. Above a hand-drawn Ukrainian trident, she wrote:

"Olena Teliha was imprisoned here and from here she goes to her execution."

Her life reminds us that courage can outlive tyranny.

Russia has already destroyed more than 1.5 million Ukrainian books in July alone.

Behind that number are school textbooks that children were meant to receive before the new academic year. Publishing houses preparing to celebrate new releases. Newly printed books that never reached readers.

In just one of Russia's latest attacks on Kyiv, nearly 250,000 school textbooks were destroyed and hundreds of thousands of other books were damaged.

Throughout its war against Ukraine, Russia has systematically targeted museums, libraries, universities, archives, publishing houses, and cultural institutions. It is trying to erase Ukrainian history, identity, and culture alongside the people who preserve them.

When a country destroys books alongside lives, homes, and schools, it reveals its true nature. That is why Russia must be stopped.

Belgium's National Day parade featured a historic first for Ukraine.

Twenty-three Ukrainian service members marched through the streets of Brussels alongside Belgian armed forces and representatives of NATO allies.

Their participation reflected the close partnership between Ukraine and Belgium and a shared commitment to strengthening Europe's security.

The profiles cover agents and intermediaries whose names appear in open sources, including court records, government statements, journalistic investigations, law enforcement filings, and survivor testimony.

People are lured to Russia under the pretence of civilian work, then find themselves in a military context with no way out. Recruits are misled about the real conditions of service – the danger, the duration, and the pay. Fraudulent schemes are used during recruitment to secure their commitment before they understand what they are agreeing to ❌

International human rights organisations, media outlets, and governments are paying increasing attention to Russian recruitment schemes, which are used to replenish the losses of Russia's armed forces in its war against Ukraine.

Over the weekend, Russia once again launched a massive missile and drone assault in an attempt to break Ukraine's spirit. It failed. Ukraine stands strong, and international support remains unwavering.

Today, I was pleased to welcome to Kyiv the Ambassadors of the @OSCE Participating States on their visit to Ukraine. Their presence sends an important message: that Russian aggression will not be normalized and Ukraine is not alone.

I briefed Ambassadors on the battlefield situation, Ukraine's peace efforts, and Europe's growing role in advancing a lasting peace. Russia is not winning this war and will not achieve its strategic objectives. This is precisely why the Kremlin continues to escalate terror against civilians. Instead, Moscow must engage in diplomacy and end its war.

We discussed how the OSCE can further strengthen support for Ukraine, expand practical projects on the ground, and continue documenting Russia's crimes to ensure accountability. I also emphasized that the OSCE must remain a principled defender of the Helsinki Final Act and the fundamental principles that Russia continues to violate every single day.

I thank all Permanent Representatives for travelling to Ukraine and the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship for making this important visit possible. Ukraine deeply values this demonstration of solidarity and our shared commitment to restoring a comprehensive and lasting peace.

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Lesia Ukrainka became a leading voice of Ukrainians in their struggle for identity. Fluent in a dozen languages, this writer, intellectual, and feminist translated world classics into Ukrainian and authored one of the first Ukrainian textbooks on the history of peoples of the East. A pioneer of modern poetry and drama, Lesia Ukrainka travelled a lot, yet cherished her native Volyn region.

Short fact: Lesia Ukrainka is one of the few people featured on Ukraine’s currency today (and the only woman among them).

This morning, Ukrainians are waking to the aftermath of another night of Russian terror. Having failed to break our nation on the battlefield, Russia once again turns its weapons against our civilian population.

During the night, the enemy launched more than 40 missiles of various types and 120 attack drones across several regions, directing one of the largest ballistic assaults of the full-scale war against Kyiv.

As of this morning, one person has been killed in Kyiv, while 16 others have been injured. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.

Nearly 600 rescuers, medics, police officers, and emergency personnel continue working at the impact sites in Kyiv, while response efforts are also underway in the Odesa region.

Every such attack is a reminder that Russia's strategy has been reduced to terror against civilians. Ukraine will endure, but protecting innocent lives requires sustained international support and stronger air defenses to stop these attacks before they reach our cities.
