Just four days ago, on July 2, Russia killed 31 people and injured 102 in its attack on Kyiv.
Today, Russia struck Kyiv again.
At least 11 people have been killed, around 60 injured, and residential buildings across the city have been damaged. Rescue operations are still underway.
Ukraine intercepted many drones and cruise missiles overnight. But Russia's ballistic missiles reached their targets because there are not enough interceptor missiles.
Every delay in delivering more air defence, including Patriot missiles, costs lives. The US and Europe have the means to help stop this terror.
Every Russian missile launched against Ukraine carries a message far beyond our borders. It seeks to convince the world that violence can replace law, that fear is stronger than solidarity, and that brutality comes without consequence.
Following Russia's second massive missile and drone attack in just a few days, Ukraine is requesting an emergency meeting of the @UN Security Council.
Overnight, Russia killed at least 11 people — and the number may grow. The previous attack on July 2nd claimed at least 31 civilian lives in Kyiv.
We call on the DRC Presidency and the Council’s members to support Ukraine's request. Delayed or weak responses cannot stop the terror. Only strong, principled, and timely action will.
The international community must stand united to deter the aggressor and continue advancing a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in line with the UN Charter.
Russia has killed at least 10 people and injured more than 40, including two children. 15 residential buildings have been damaged in Kyiv.
Rings a bell?
For the second time in a week, Russia has launched a massive attack against civilians in Ukraine. For the second time in a week, Kyiv is observing a Day of Mourning.
Russia continues to systematically use ballistic missiles against civilians. Today, a missile struck a residential building, killing and injuring innocent people.
Any delays in delivering air defense missiles, including for Patriots, cost human lives. Every delay gives Russia another opportunity to kill.
Ukraine must have the means to protect its people.
Today is the National Police Day of Ukraine 🇺🇦
Ukraine's police officers help people affected by Russian attacks, are among the first to arrive at strike sites alongside emergency responders, evacuate civilians from frontline communities, combat crime, and carry out many other vital tasks. Thousands of police officers are defending our freedom with weapons in their hands as part of combat units.
We thank every police officer for their courage and dedication!
Russia shows no intention of ending its terror against ordinary people in Ukraine. A heinous aerial bomb attack targeted the city of Sumy, killing at least four people, including a child. Another 27 people were injured, among them seven children.
The same day, Russian forces also attacked other regions of Ukraine. In Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed and six injured. Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, as well as Odesa, the Dnipro and Donetsk regions, also came under attack.
Russia has followed the same pattern since the very first day of its brutal war. To stop it, our partners' strategy of resistance and pressure must remain consistent and decisive – through concrete actions, increased pressure on the aggressor, and stronger air defence for Ukraine.
Today is the Day of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Every day, Ukraine lives under the constant threat of Russian aerial attacks on a scale that seemed unimaginable just a few years ago. The soldiers of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces are the first to confront these threats, defending Ukraine's skies and its people from missiles, drones, and enemy aircraft.
Over the course of Russia's full-scale invasion, they have destroyed tens of thousands of hostile aerial targets. The impact of their work is seen every single day – across Ukraine and by the entire world.
We thank the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces for their professionalism, precision, and for protecting our homes and people.
A mother kneels beside the body of her son, killed by a Russian missile in his own home. There are no words that can capture this grief.
While documenting the aftermath of Russia's attack on Kyiv on July 2, Ukrainian photojournalist Ivan Antypenko was invited inside by Tetiana. "You can come in and look, but my son Roma is lying there. He is dead. He isn't breathing anymore," she told him.
Russia's strike on Kyiv killed 30 civilians and injured dozens more. While the aggressor continues to wage war against human lives, the world must not look away. Russia's impunity must come to an end.
🚁🇺🇦 Today is the Army Aviation Day of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Army Aviation crews carry out some of the most demanding combat missions under enemy fire. They support troops on the ground, help save lives – and bring a just and lasting peace closer.
We honour the memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. Eternal glory to the fallen heroes, and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who continues to defend Ukraine’s skies.
Today, Kyiv mourns the victims of Russia's massive attack against Ukraine's capital on July 2.
Russia killed at least 30 civilians in that attack. Dozens of people were injured. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those whose lives were taken by Russia.
As a result of Russia's attack, damage was recorded across nearly every district of Kyiv. More than 20 residential buildings were damaged, along with an emergency medical station, ambulances, businesses, and other civilian infrastructure.
Despite the danger, rescuers, medics, and emergency crews continue working around the clock to save lives and help those affected. Psychologists from Ukraine's State Emergency Service have already provided support to 190 people.
On this Day of Mourning, flags are flying at half-mast across Kyiv, and all entertainment events have been cancelled.
Eternal memory to those whose lives were taken by Russia. These crimes must not go unanswered. Russia must be held accountable, and Ukraine must receive the support it needs to protect its people.
Unfortunately, there is a shortage of anti-ballistic capabilities – a shortage of Patriots – while Putin still intends to “vanquish” residential buildings rather than end his war.
We have been discussing licenses for the production of Patriots with the U.S. Administration for a long time already. I thank all the countries helping through the PURL program, which enables us to purchase interceptors for Patriots. However, to reliably protect lives, we need our own production.
European production here in Ukraine, or jointly with our partners, would also support the U.S. in operations whenever needed. We hope for a positive response from President Trump to protect lives. I also thank everyone who has expressed condolences to Ukraine today, everyone who has not remained silent and condemned Russian terror.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing in Kyiv after Russia's massive overnight attack. At least 18 people were killed and dozens injured, including two children.
In the Kharkiv region, five people, among them a child, were injured after Russian drone attacks struck homes, farms, and other civilian sites. In the Kyiv region, two people were wounded as Russian strikes damaged businesses and civilian infrastructure. In the Dnipro region, Russian attacks hit five districts, injuring two people. The aggressor state also targeted the Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy regions.
Russia continues to deliberately strike homes and families. Pressure on the aggressor must increase, and Ukraine must receive the air defence it urgently needs to protect lives.
This morning, Kyiv woke up to explosions. At least 18 people did not survive the night of Russian terror. The aggressor state took their lives and injured more than 90 others, launching over 70 missiles and nearly 500 attack drones against Ukraine.
Ukraine urgently needs more air defense. More contributions to the PURL initiative will save lives. Agreements on anti-ballistic missile production must be implemented, and we count on the United States to move forward with decisions on Patriot licenses. Every effort must be made to stop Russia's war and prevent attacks like this from happening again.
Russia's continued terror against civilians in Ukraine demonstrates its unwillingness to end its war.
Kyiv survived another night of terror. At least 13 people were killed and dozens were injured.
Russia's main targets were private homes, apartment buildings, warehouses, and a hotel.
Decisions on air defense systems and missiles for Ukraine are needed right now, not later.
Decisions to increase sanctions pressure on Russia are needed right now, not later.
Decisions to increase support for Ukraine, including energy assistance, are needed right now, not later.
Every delay puts more lives at risk – lives Russia is so desperate to take.
The response to the aftermath of Russia’s attack is still ongoing in Kyiv: first responders are clearing the rubble, searching for people, and providing assistance. Damage has been reported at more than 20 sites across the city, most of them ordinary residential buildings. There was also damage to an ambulance station, a research institute, a hotel, and businesses.
As of now, we know that, tragically, 13 people were killed in this Russian strike. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 90 others were injured. Everyone who needs help is receiving all necessary assistance. Five people were wounded in the Kharkiv region, including a child, and two more in the Kyiv region, where civilian infrastructure was also targeted. Overnight, Russia also struck the Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy regions.
In total, Russia launched more than 70 missiles of various types against Ukraine overnight, nearly half of them ballistic missiles, along with almost 500 attack drones, including jet-powered “shaheds.” The main strike was directed at Kyiv. Our air defenders managed to shoot down a significant number of the incoming targets, but not all of them.
Air defense supplies for Ukraine are an absolute and critical priority. Contributions to the PURL program remain essential – they directly help save lives. Every bilateral agreement we reach with our partners on air defense truly makes a difference. I am grateful to every leader who is helping.
It is especially important that we move forward with implementing our agreements on the production of anti-ballistic capabilities. We also very much count on a decision by the United States regarding licenses for Patriots and other forms of cooperation. These are the kinds of steps that can stop this war and prevent attacks like this. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine, with our people, and with our efforts to protect life.
Do not delay decisions on air defense for Ukraine! This is our main request to our partners after Kyiv suffered a night of horror.
At least 10 people have been killed as a result of Russia’s brutal attack against the Ukrainian capital with all types of missiles and drones.
Sadly, this number may further rise. Rescue teams continue their work.
Russia targeted residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. War criminal Putin can only wage a vile and terroristic war against civilians, women and children. Because in his war against Ukraine’s Defense Forces he cannot achieve a single result.
Such strikes are grave war crimes and we are informing all partners and international organisations about them, calling for accountability and strong responses.
On the second day of my working trip to Japan, I will be informing all of my interlocutors about this strike and the need to increase pressure on the aggressor and support for the Ukrainian people.
We demand strong international responses. Not only words of condemnation but concrete action to stop Russian terror.
Decisions on air defense systems and missiles for Ukraine are needed right now, not later!
Decisions to increase sanctions pressure on Russia are needed right now, not later!
Decisions to increase support for Ukraine, including energy assistance, are needed right now, not later!
I also want to particularly emphasise that it is immoral to justify Russian atrocities against Ukrainians by saying that Moscow acts in response to Ukraine’s long-range strikes against Russia.
In this war, there is an aggressor and a country defending itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Russia has no right to make any strikes against Ukraine, while Ukraine has every right to respond, defend from aggressor, and strike any legitimate military targets in Russia.
Do not equate an aggressor and a country defending from aggression. Do not justify atrocities that cannot be justified.
This war is not only about Ukraine, it is about principles. And we need everyone in the world to be principled at this challenging time.
POV: you sound as if you’re about to win the war (for the fifth year already)
REAL: you started an aggressive war trying to win fast; achieved no goals after losing 1,4 million men in over 4 years; your slow advances stall; the war returns to your territory.
It’s giving winner!
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called for stronger international efforts to protect cultural and religious heritage sites.
💬 "Ukraine will initiate the updating of international instruments for the protection of holy sites and unique heritage sites. Russia’s attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has shown just how vulnerable these sites are to attacks by modern-day barbarians.
Protecting them, preventing their destruction, and effectively punishing the perpetrators is the responsibility of all humanity. If existing international legal instruments do not provide adequate protection, then it is time to modernize them and create new ones.
Ukraine, as a country that has suffered particularly devastating blows – not only to the Lavra but to many holy sites and hundreds of religious buildings – has every moral right to take the lead in such changes.
We are already working through UNESCO, given Ukraine’s status as a member of the Executive Board, to develop a systematic response to Russian attacks".
The Russians like to talk about the “spirit of Anchorage.” As with any spirit, no one truly knows what it is. But the Russians believe in it, and they think everyone else should as well.
The reality makes one thing clear: if the “Spirit of Anchorage” even existed, it is certainly dead now.
For Russia, the lesson of Anchorage is that any peace plan developed without Ukraine is doomed to become a spirit and disappear.
Moscow should stop believing in spirits and instead respond to Ukraine’s serious proposals to sit down at the negotiating table and end the war.
The longer Putin refuses to accept the reality that he will never achieve any goals on the battlefield, the worse things will get for Russia.
Today, Ukraine marks the 30th anniversary of its Constitution.
When Russia invaded Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2014, our Constitution also came under attack. The Kremlin attempted to force constitutional changes that would give it permanent leverage over our sovereign decisions.
The enemy chose Constitution as one of its main targets. The reason is simple: this document is the foundation of our freedom, security, and independence.
Moscow could not accept that Ukrainians choose their own future freely, through democratic institutions and under their own Constitution — not under pressure from a former empire. But the aggressor did not achieve anything. Neither in 2014, nor in 2022. And it will never achieve the goals of its aggression.
Whenever I am asked about Ukraine's key principles in negotiations, I have one answer: the Constitution of Ukraine. It answers every question about our sovereignty, our borders, and our future.
Our Constitution is a rulebook that defines how our democratic state functions, protects the rights and freedoms of our citizens, and affirms that only the Ukrainian people have the sovereign right to determine Ukraine's future.
Today, our soldiers, diplomats, and millions of Ukrainians are working toward one common goal: restoring the constitutional order of Ukraine throughout its sovereign territory.
Happy Constitution Day, Ukraine!
