UK Road Offender Education. We manage and administer the NDORS Scheme on behalf of UK police services. We aim to respond promptly but do not monitor 24/7.
There are several different types of rider. A lot are daily riders but there are just as many who use their bikes less often; perhaps a sunny evening or a Sunday morning ride with friends.
However, you use your machine it needs to be safe and it needs to be roadworthy. Daily checks for bikes are just as important as they are for every other vehicle. Checks for bikes used less often are even more vital. Before you head out onto the roads do your POWDERS checks. #Op2Wheel

If you were out on the bike this weekend we hope you had a safe and enjoyable time.
Many riders use bikes as a source of enjoyment and pleasure rather than their daily mode of transport. It can sometimes leave skill levels somewhat duller than someone who rides every day.
There is nothing better than getting involved in a course that helps advance your skill levels, increases your enjoyment of riding and enhances your overall competence and safety as a rider.
Police BikeSafe (UK) is there for just that purpose. Why not get involved?

Taking the bike out this weekend?
Whether you’re a POWDERS or T-CLOCS person don’t forget to do your pre-ride checks.
The weather should be hot and sunny but don’t be tempted to dress for the weather. Dress for safety.
Have a great weekend, ride safe and get home to do it again another day. #BikeSafe

With a long bank holiday weekend upon us and the promise of some nice weather... you may be tempted to have a drink tonight with colleagues before heading home? Perhaps visit friends over the weekend for a BBQ and a couple of beers or glasses of wine?
Drinking and driving wrecks lives so if you're drinking dont drive. If you're driving don't drink or choose zero alcohol options. #Fatal4 #OpSpotlight
As #OpSpotlight draws to a close it would be remiss of us to not mention mobile phones and driving. There is strong evidence supporting the case that handsfree use of a phone is just as dangerous as handheld. Just because something is not prohibited does not automatically mean it is safe.
Never use a phone whilst driving. Stay focussed and stay safe. Ignore messages and alerts, allow calls to go to voicemail and when safe, pull over, park up, switch off the engine and check your messages in safety. #Fatal4
For some drivers, the onset of some lovely weather brings out a tendency to drive faster. Perhaps on country lanes with all the windows down and the music playing. Maybe even with the roof down. However, statistics show that most fatal collisions occur on rural roads and speed remains a high contributory factor. So enjoy the weather, enjoy the drive, but ensure you stick to the limits and arrive alive. #Fatal4 #OpSpotlight
It's Friday! The weekend is almost here and for once the weather may actually be good. Perhaps a drive out to a country pub, a trip to the coast or maybe visit some friends for a BBQ in the garden?
Whatever you choose to do remember one thing if you are driving... 0.0%
Don't fall into the trap of thinking 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks will be fine. Don't take any risks. Stay sober, stay focussed and make sure that great day goes down in your memories as just that.
#OpSpotlight #Fatal4
You wouldn't dream of riding a roller coaster or fun fair ride without being properly strapped in... yet there are still so many people who fail to wear a seatbelt in their car where the risks are arguably higher.
Wearing a seatbelt should be so normal to you that you put one on without thinking and it feels wrong if you're not wearing one.
Buckle up - every time. #OpSpotlight #Fatal4
Traditionally we often think of the drink drive campaigns running around big holiday periods... the summer holidays, Christmas and new year. Yet drink driving is a year long problem and one that persists despite decades of campaigning against it.
Drinking and driving ruins lives. There are so many zero alcohol options available now that it's easy to feel like you're part of the party but still able to drive home safely. Don't ruin your life or someone else's. #OpSpotlight #Fatal4
Is this perhaps the most dangerous item of clothing for children to wear in a car?
Whilst we can hope that Winter is behind us and the need for insulated coats has passed until Autumn it is worthy of mention during #OpSpotlight that such coats can present a danger to young children in cars.
Such coats trap air within the lining. That air warms up and as such they can be very warm and cosy. However, when strapping a child into a car seat they can be dangerous. This is because the bulk of the jacket can often lead to the restraints not being as tight as they should be. In the event of a collision this can lead to the seat/restraints not being able to do their job.
Best advice. Take such coats off before strapping your child in. The heater in the car will soon have them warm. You can always tuck them in with jacket once they are strapped in properly. #Fatal4
Seatbelts save lives - the simplest and easiest thing you can do is wear one and be a role model to young people travelling with you.

The man in the photograph is Nils Bohlin (July 17, 1920 - Sept. 21, 2002)
Whilst at Volvo Nils invented the 3 point safety belt which became and remains a standard safety feature in every motor vehicle. This one invention has saved more lives on the roads around the world than anything else.
The date? The law requiring all drivers in the UK to wear their seatbelts came in to force 43 years ago on 31 January 1983.
Make sure you and all your passengers are buckled up
