@IdkTest_06 As I got older, I notice I'm playing to "check off lists" more than I play to enjoy the story, gameplay, music, visuals, etc. Maybe I'm treating gaming too much like a side job.

@LonelyGoomba Yeah, people generally suck. Therefore, most fanbases suck. Any effort to make them suck less usually gets fought back with stupid jargony excuses such as "overmoderation" and "gatekeeping" and "inclusivity" and as a result, they keep on sucking.

@LeityMatthew @harbowoputra I'm pretty sure the animated Merlin was on it; I think he's on the "don't use magic and is unhelpful" part. 🤣 Can't remember who's on the "uses magic and is helpful" spectrum, though. It seemed to be some kind of a sockpuppet/stop motion wizard character. It was hilarious.

@LeityMatthew @harbowoputra Yeah, that mention of LotR having too much magic effectively disqualifies the OP's opinion on the genre.

I remembered Gandalf being on a "being helpful vs uses magic" meme where he's a helpful wizard who doesn't actually use magic. (Dumbledore is unhelpful and uses magic LOL)

@harbowoputra A vast majority of fantasy stories are set in settings where magic is prevalent. Sure, the genre is pretty wide, and people stretch the definition to include a variety of settings and prevalence of magic, but 99% of the times when fantasy is talked about, magic is there.
