Executive Director at The Nature Conservancy in New York (@nature_ny), husband, father, city and wilderness lover, and proud New Yorker. Opinions are my own.
What an honor to welcome everyone and introduce both Onondaga Faith keeper Oren Lyons and UB President Satish Tripanthi in Buffalo at last night’s opening of the Conservancy’s Voice, Choice & Action global gathering on working with Indigenous partners.
Great hike yesterday with colleagues at Lisha Kill Preserve near Albany. It is one of the Conservancy’s most visited preserves nationally, with over 30k visitors annually. A beautiful and special place that’s just out the back door.
Neighbors got together this weekend to plant flowers in our tree beds. Reminds us to take care of the trees that take care of us. #urbanforest#citytrees
It was so great to (re)connect with Conservancy colleagues in the Santo Domingo office today. I am excited and impressed with their leadership on climate change and the role nature plays in all our lives — in one of my favorite countries in the world!
This is a truly remarkable and important accomplishment for all New Yorkers — current and future! New York continues to help lead the nation on climate and conservation solutions that give us hope and remind us of the difference we can make.
Huge shout-out to New York voters for approving Prop 1: the #NYBondAct!
Read @jessicaottney's statement on behalf of @nature_ny on this momentous victory for clean water, clean air, and healthy communities.
Our sincere thanks to New York voters and the @NYBondAct coalition!
Great explainer piece from @OstapiukJ in @siadvance on what the #NYBondAct is and why so many of us are rallying in support of it. Read, and then go vote! https://t.co/ezWeqluZUz
We need to better appreciate our carbon “shadows,” which help us understand broadly how our choices affect climate change, and push industry to better tackle climate change – through regulations, consumer choices and corporate responsbility. https://t.co/I78XwK1wdi
Nature has been telling us for years that🌏is in trouble. This is just another stark reminder. At #COP27 and #COP15 it is time for world leaders to act. I am optimistic that when we come together, we will find a way for adaptation, finance, and nature. https://t.co/YxXee4uxRT
Huge step! Appreciation to California. Indigenous knowledge and stewardship is vital to conservation success. Would love to see initiatives like this happen everywhere, especially right here in NY. https://t.co/yPrkmlmOEW
So energizing to see so many faces in our NYC office today for our Day Of Gathering happening at offices all across New York! I am so proud of and appreciative of the NY team!
In awe of the talent around the world in being able to capture the beauty of nature. Check out these winning photos from @nature_org’s photo content this year: https://t.co/Z3l2o9mNbx
