@sarahsackman As the Minister for Justice you should believe justice is for all. Referencing only victims in your message appears to represent a limit on your considerations. What about the proposals to limit LA in the mags court depriving the accused of a lawyer when facing 2 yrs in prison?
An extraordinary evening at the Royal Courts of Justice to celebrate 75 years of women silks (King’s Counsel). The Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr congratulated over 350 women KCs from the most senior #16 HHJ Shirley Anwyl KC to the most recently appointed #641 Clea Topolski KC.
It’s not the number of cases that are heard that matters it’s the type of hearing. Contested hearings in all jurisdictions are few and far between - yet another adjournment by CVP is not something to celebrate - what is the plan? @HMCTSgovuk@thebarcouncil
@bobbidog Yeah, had seen it but can't say I really understand any of it. I know judges are under huge pressure but I cannot see how jury trials are essential. Courts & rule of law, yes. Trials, no! Most have waited 2yrs already, what's the problem with another couple of months.
@DavidMuttering Reliving every second of that awful email. I did (eventually) get a full explanation about it, more satisfactory than you would guess. But talk about a roller coaster of a day. Have heard that this year's applicants will have to wait until January. Good luck to them all
@paulasherriff I drove all the way to Leicester and back to vote for you. Was gutted this morning. You have been wonderful and deserved better. Good luck in the future
