A netizen had reposted a TikTok video showing residents affected by the disaster, writing on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, November 8: "PANGARAP KO LANG TALAGA IS MAMATAY NA LAHAT NG CORRUPT SA PILIPINAS! 😭"

In response on Sunday, November 9, Cojuangco wrote: "Bakit kasi sa flood plain gumawa ng tirahan? 🤦‍♀️ Takaw sakuna."

His remark sparked backlash on social media, with many netizens condemning his statement amid the human suffering caused by the floods.
