In 1904, businessman Gus Mears acquired the site and wanted to turn it into a football ground. Fulham were offered the chance to play there but rejected it.

The stadium has gone through several major changes over the years, but it survived one of its biggest threats in the 1980s when Chelsea faced financial problems and the ground’s ownership became complicated.Chelsea supporters launched the famous “Save the Bridge” campaign, helping secure the stadium’s future.

Since then, Stamford Bridge has witnessed league titles, FA Cups, European nights and some of the greatest moments in Chelsea history.

It isn’t just a stadium. Stamford Bridge is where Chelsea’s story began and where generations of fans have watched it unfold 💙
