BREAKING: This morning, bandits attacked farmers in Rafin Sarki, Galadimawa Ward, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State, killing two people.

The deceased were identified as Yusuf Yau Ladan, 22, and Abdul Suleja, 16. Another farmer, Muktar Isah, was shot in the chest and thigh, while the attackers reportedly escaped with about 50 cattle.

The same attackers had reportedly shot Hassan Surajo, 25, in the thigh on September 8.

How many more farmers must lose their lives before they can safely return to their farms?

The situation in Kaduna is becoming increasingly volatile, and this should concern every responsible stakeholder.

I call on the IGP, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other well-meaning stakeholders to urgently intervene and call Governor Uba Sani and all political actors to restraint.

The repeated confrontations and attacks surrounding the ADC and its governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. @IsaAshiruKudan, are deeply troubling. Whatever the political differences, violence, intimidation and the use of force must not become instruments of political competition.

Kaduna has paid too high a price for political violence in the past. We must not allow the 2027 contest to drag the state back into that cycle.

Governor Uba Sani, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, has a particular responsibility to ensure that every political party and every citizen can organise, campaign and express their political preferences without fear.

The stakes are already high. The time for restraint, dialogue and impartial enforcement of the law is now, before political confrontation becomes something far more difficult to control.

Kaduna belongs to all of us, not to any political party.

GOOD NEWS: Yesterday evening, Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG) ambushed 10 bandits on motorcycles in the Mada axis, Gusau LGA of Zamfara State.

The bandits were on their way back to the forest after an attempted attack on civilians when the CPG personnel caught up with them.

Eight of the 10 bandits were reportedly killed, while two managed to escape.

This is encouraging news from the frontline. May God continue to strengthen and protect our security forces as they work to keep our communities safe.

Kudos to the Zamfara CPG for their bravery and swift response.

GOOD NEWS: Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded another success in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminal activities in the region.

On 13 September, troops responded to a distress call after terrorists attacked Unguwan Lalle in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State. The troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw and successfully rescuing two kidnapped victims.

The terrorists later attempted to regroup but were again confronted by the troops, who engaged them in a fierce gun battle and recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition, phone batteries, and other items.

In a separate operation on 12 September along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, troops also arrested a suspected drug peddler, Yohana Musa, with a large quantity of suspected illicit substances.

These operations show the importance of timely intelligence and continued pressure on criminal elements operating across the North West.

Kudos to the troops for their courage and dedication. The fight is ongoing and sustained efforts remain critical to restoring lasting peace and security.

The success is a welcome development in the ongoing fight against banditry in the State.
