Dino Melaye may have delivered it with humour and theatre, but beneath the jokes is a serious political message: APC looks increasingly unsettled by the momentum building around the opposition ahead of 2027.

When a ruling party begins to appear consumed by lists, suspicions, targets and imagined threats, it creates the impression of a government that is more worried about political survival than public confidence.

That is why Dino’s “ogogoro garnished with loud” description lands so hard.

It is exaggerated, yes.

But the deeper argument is about composure.

A confident government should be talking about results.

Jobs.

Security.

Food prices.

Power.

Healthcare.

Economic recovery.

Instead, the political conversation around APC increasingly feels defensive, tense and suspicious.

And that is where Atiku Abubakar and the ADC coalition are becoming more dangerous to Tinubu politically.

Atiku is not coming into 2027 as an unknown quantity.

He has national reach.

He has deep political networks.

He is speaking directly to hardship, subsidy, economic reform and the pain ordinary Nigerians are feeling.

ADC, meanwhile, is becoming the platform around which dissatisfied voters and political forces are beginning to gather.

That combination creates pressure.

And pressure exposes fear.

Tinubu may still control the machinery of government, but control is not the same thing as confidence.

If APC truly believes Nigerians are satisfied, then it should relax and allow performance to speak.

But when the ruling party begins to look over its shoulder at every movement, every list, every opposition voice and every emerging coalition, people naturally begin to ask one question:

What exactly are they afraid of?

Dino may be laughing.

But APC should understand that the joke is becoming political.

Atiku is gaining ground.

ADC is expanding.

And 2027 is beginning to look much less comfortable for the ruling party than it did a few months ago.
