Every year, Rory Gallagher came home to Cork to play Macroom, Ireland’s first open-air rock festival.
In 1978, he made it legendary. He rolled up in a car, grabbed his battle-scarred ‘61 Strat, ran straight up the steps with no soundcheck, and tore into “Shin Kicker.”
Pure rock and roll.
Russia tested the most powerful hydrogen bomb ever detonated by the human race. That footage is a 50 megaton explosion. The object that passed Earth on June 29th would have struck with 10 to 12 times that force, somewhere in the range of 50 million megatons of TNT.
That number is not theoretical. It comes from calculating the size and velocity of the object against the yield of the largest nuclear weapon humans have ever built. The June 29th pass was close enough that the question of what happens if the trajectory shifts slightly is not an idle one.
BREAKING: Gardaí visit Burke family home to arrest and imprison Enoch Burke
Teacher Enoch Burke was told by Principal Niamh McShane “it is expected of you” to use the “they” pronoun for a child. He refused.
Enoch Burke has now spent 728 days in prison. He will not surrender his constitutional rights and deny his conscience.
It is a disgrace to see a female Garda laugh at the prospect of a young teacher facing arrest and imprisonment for standing by his Christian belief.
Every county in Ireland is crippled with drug intimidation and crime and yet An Garda Síochána has the time and resources to come around the Burke family home late at night in pursuit of an innocent man.
Today will be one of the darkest and most devastating days in the history of France. Over the course of the day, we will provide documentation for what has been stated.
BREAKING: Elon Musk suggests starting an Amazon competitor after a user reported that Amazon was blocking Grok bots from placing orders.
“Maybe we should start a competitor to Amazon.”
Darling @elonmusk
Can you make the same rule for women posting on @X ?
Democrat chicks are ugly, shrill & make claims their bodies can’t cash
Thank you

Tesla VP of Hardware Engineering Lars Moravy explains to Hagerty how the Roadster borrows SpaceX cold gas thrusters to make 0 to 60 possible in 0.55 seconds.
Truly insane:
▫️ 200L carbon-over wrapped pressure vessel
behind seat holds nitrogen at 10,000 PSI
▫️cold gas thrusters push out 80 kN of thrust (equivalent to a single fighter jet engine)
▫️Tesla went with nitrogen because “it just seemed wrong to put fuel into a car” (air is ~80% nitrogen, fair enough)
▫️thrusters same system satellites use to move in space (eg. the “psh psh psh" from Apollo 13 film)
▫️currently takes 6 to 7 hours to refill all nitrogen but Tesla working for it to be 30 minutes
▫️uses leg actuators from Optimus robot to manage downforce on wing

Rare 1971 footage of Apollo 15 Commander Dave Scott validating Galileo’s gravity principle on the Moon.
Near the end of the final moonwalk on August 2, 1971, Scott held a geologic hammer in one hand and a falcon feather in the other. He released both at the same time from roughly the same height. In the Moon’s near-vacuum environment—with no air resistance—they struck the surface simultaneously, exactly as Galileo predicted centuries earlier: objects fall at the same rate regardless of mass.
Scott introduced the demonstration live, noting that one of the reasons they were there was because of Galileo’s discovery about falling objects, and that the Moon was the ideal place to confirm it. Mission Control’s reaction was a simple, enthusiastic “How about that!”
The clip remains one of the most elegant, real-world demonstrations of a foundational physics principle ever filmed. Credit: NASA.
@tobi Even without rocket thrusters, Roadster will crush the best Formula 1 track times, because we are using suction and active control surfaces, both of which are banned by F1
