BREAKING : President @CyrilRamaphosa has accepted advocate Andrea Johnson’s request to resign with immediate effect as the head of IDAC. It’s unclear whether Johnson will continue appearing at the #MadlangaCommission today but nothing precludes her from doing so as she would be now testifying as former IDAC head. She is also still under subpoena.

At least Andrea Johnson had the courage to publicly apologise to Brig Dineo Mokwele.

We harbour no expectation that you or your like-minded colleagues will do the honourable thing and extend the same courtesy to those whose reputations and views you so readily disparaged.

South Africans have seen exactly where you stand. In the end, history is seldom kind to those who practise selective accountability while claiming the mantle of objective journalism.

IDAC head Andrea Johnson has apologised and withdrawn her earlier assertion that Brigadier Dineo Mokwele’s appointment to Crime Intelligence was a token appointment.

Johnson conceded before the Madlanga Commission that she had not seen Mokwele’s qualifications, her job application, and was unaware that Mokwele is studying towards an MBA.

She acknowledged that her opinion was based solely on information provided by her investigative team, which she now accepts was incorrect.

The concession comes after Commissioner Khumalo questioned the basis on which she had characterised Mokwele’s appointment despite not having considered the relevant documentation outlining her qualifications and experience.

People understand that it is her mother who stole someone's identity, not her. You're applying a blanket approach to the Chidimma case. According to papers in court:
07 Aug 2024, Home Affairs announces that her birth reg was done by means of ID theft. The ID belonged to Sara Moyo. Further investigation confirms that her birth registration contravened the Births reg act

Following the discovery of her illegal status, she left SA to take up her Nigerian citizenship.
The department reaches out to her, even via WhatsApp, about its intention to nullify the SA documents (fraudulent docs). She failed to make a representation (window to regularise)
She was placed on the Visa-restricted list.
While she was out of the country, her mother gets arrested. Chidimma's child is then taken by social workers.
Surprisingly, she entered the country (she has an SA passport) on 09 June, and she was arrested. The court makes an error and postpones her case.
