This morning, @NLC_Kenya CEO @Kabale_arero and Commissioner @regokumu attended a high-level Workshop for Board Audit Committees at Lake Naivasha Resort. The workshop’s central aim was to strengthen internal controls within the institution, with the broader goal of achieving a zero-fault audit system.

This comes on the back of a significant milestone: the National Land Commission recently secured a clean audit opinion for the 2023/2024 financial year. This rare achievement in the public sector stands as a clear demonstration of the Commission’s firm commitment to accountability, fiscal integrity, and good governance.

Later in the day, the CEO joined the NLC Secretariat at Lemaiyan Resort, where the team has embarked on a four-day retreat. The purpose of this retreat is twofold,

To finalize the Commission’s Annual Report, which will comprehensively capture the institution’s progress and accomplishments.

To prepare a detailed Commissioners’ Exit Report, ensuring a smooth and well-informed transition as the current commissioners complete their term.

In her remarks, CEO Kabale Tache formally acknowledged the Secretariat’s immense efforts, describing them as the engine that sustains the institution’s daily operations. She commended their dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism. Commissioner Okumu equally emphasized these sentiments, recognizing the Secretariat as the backbone of the Commission’s success.

This retreat is not a routine exercise,it is a deliberate and serious process of consolidating institutional memory, reinforcing accountability, and safeguarding continuity.

Through such measures, the National Land Commission reaffirms that public institutions can deliver excellence when guided by transparency, discipline, and integrity.
