OPEN LETTER TO THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION

Hon. @JoNsengimana

Greetings Sir,

My name is King NGABO , I’m an artist, researcher, and the founder of @MuseumIngabo , an African Storytelling and Art Museum.

Since last year, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with @Uni_Rwanda to provide internship opportunities for students from the Creative Industry, School of Arts and Languages. The most recent cohort completed their program at the museum on April 30, 2025.

Through this partnership and direct interaction with the students, I have come to some important realizations.

As a result, I respectfully submit the following requests on their behalf:

1.Increase Practical Learning

Many students did not choose to study Creative Industry out of personal interest, which has impacted their engagement. Please help them gain a deeper understanding of the industry through more hands-on experience rather than theory alone.

2.Foster Artist Collaboration on Campus

Organize more workshops on campus instead of traditional classes. Facilitate connections between students and professional artists through regular creative workshops.

3. Revitalize the Auditorium for Creative Use

Restore the auditorium to its original purpose , a vibrant space for workshops, theater productions, musical performances, and other creative activities.

From my experience working with these students, it is clear that several key elements necessary to shape them into market-ready creatives are currently missing. These gaps call for timely reforms in the program structure.
