Today, an aircraft carrying @WHO health supplies to support the #Ebola response departed from WHO's Hub for Global Health Emergencies Logistics in Dubai, bound for the Democratic Republic of the Congo via Uganda. Supplies include critically needed personal protective equipment for health workers, and supplies to support infection prevention and control activities.

As humanitarian needs continue to grow, WHO’s Hub in Dubai is simultaneously supporting emergency operations across multiple crises, with air charters currently underway to #DRC, #Gaza, #Sudan, #Yemen and #Somalia. This is the highest level of concurrent operations since the COVID-19 pandemic.

@WHO is grateful to @DXBHumanitarian and the #UAE for their continued partnership in supporting health emergency response efforts during this critical time.

It was a pleasure to welcome Ms. @AminaJMohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, at our Dubai Cares’ office where she met with H.E. Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares. They discussed the importance of global convening platforms in informing and shaping a mechanism that advances education transformation worldwide.

The discussion also explored evolving human development priorities, with a focus on equipping youth with the skills and opportunities needed to access meaningful employment and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

The visit concluded with Dr. Al Gurg presenting Ms. Mohammed with a token of appreciation for her continued commitment to advancing the sustainable development agenda and for her support of Dubai Cares’ mission to position education as a key pillar of human development globally.

The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to empowering communities and building a more inclusive and equitable future for children and youth around the world.

كان من دواعي سرورنا استقبال السيدة أمينة ج. محمد، نائبة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، في مكتب دبي العطاء، حيث التقت بسعادة الدكتور طارق محمد القرق، الرئيس التنفيذي ونائب رئيس مجلس إدارة المؤسسة. وقد تناول الاجتماع أهمية المنصات والمحافل العالمية الجامعة في صياغة وتشكيل آلية تدفع بمسيرة تحويل التعليم على مستوى العالم.

كما تطرّق النقاش إلى الأولويات الراهنة في مجال التنمية البشرية، وبالأخص أهمية تزويد الشباب بالمهارات اللازمة وفرص العمل الهادفة للتكيّف مع عالم دائم التغيّر.

وفي ختام الزيارة، قدّم الدكتور القرق للسيدة محمد درعاً تكريمياً تقديراً لالتزامها المتواصل بتعزيز أجندة التنمية المستدامة، ودعمها لدبي العطاء ومهمتها المتمثلة في ترسيخ مكانة التعليم كركيزة أساسية لتحقيق التنمية البشرية حول العالم.

وقد أكّدت هذه الزيارة على الالتزام المشترك بتمكين المجتمعات وبناء مستقبل أكثر شمولاً وإنصافاً للأطفال والشباب على الصعيد العالمي.

⚖️ 🇦🇪 Strengthening CBRN judicial capacities through practical training in the United Arab Emirates

☣️ As CBRN threats evolve in complexity, strengthening judicial and investigative capacities is essential to ensure effective prosecution and adjudication of CBRN-related crimes.

📍 Abu Dhabi hosted a CBRN Mock Trial exercise under the framework of the 🇪🇺 EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative, bringing together legal and technical professionals to enhance national and regional response capabilities.

Key highlights
🔹 Scenario-based training strengthens investigation, prosecution and adjudication of CBRN crimes
🔹 Strong national leadership fosters regional cooperation and knowledge exchange
🔹 Enhanced interagency coordination among judicial, law enforcement and technical experts
🔹 Practical application of national legal frameworks to realistic case scenarios
🔹 Launch of a Train-the-Trainer programme to support long-term capacity-building

🧭 The exercise marked the completion of a comprehensive training cycle, with 45 practitioners certified and prepared to address CBRN-related incidents.

🇦🇪🇪🇺🇺🇳 Co-funded by the European Union (EU Service for Foreign Policy Instruments) and the UAE Attorney General’s Office, and implemented under the EU-funded CBRN Centres of Excellence (#EUCBRNCoE) Initiative with the support of UNICRI, this activity reflects the importance of partnership in strengthening security and advancing justice.
