Recent global evidence shows that across 33 countries, a median of 39% of people reported discriminatory attitudes towards people living with HIV.

Access to essential health products requires stronger national and regional systems that can withstand supply disruptions, rising treatment costs and growing pressure on health financing.

The meeting has concluded with discussions on the challenges affecting access to essential medicines in Uganda, including #IntellectualProperty barriers, dependence on imports, reduced international donor funding and the underuse of local production capacity.

Participants also explored the need to strengthen national and regional pharmaceutical sovereignty and make greater use of available legal and policy tools to support sustainable access to medicines.
