You shouldn’t be able to determine your position size without first choosing your exit

Proper Risk Management = I’m wrong “here” and therefore my exit is “here”. I’m willing to risk “x” % and so my position size will be “y”.

Risk mgmt position size example

$50k account 3% risk = $1500 (1, 2, or 3% is most common)

XYZ stock is $40. Let’s say you determine your stop-loss is 38.00 = $2.00 risk

Divide $1500 ($ at risk) risk by $2.00 ($ at risk)= shares you can purchase

In this example 750 shares
