HAVOC … Valvular disease. The training focused on management of emergencies in cardiac and thoracic surgery. Cases were all performed by residents with a Thoracic Trauma room and a Cardic Bypass valve room. Thanks to the faculty who supported the education and Synchrony Labs!
Great partnership between UNC and ECU for the first ever “HAVOC”(Hemostatic and Valvular Operations in Cardiothoracic surgery) training course. Tremendous thanks to Baxter for their support to Cardiothoracic Education and to Edwards for their support for training…

So excited for Steven to finally be here with us, starting (officially) next Friday. Congratulations and good luck to all the incoming #CTSurgery interns as they start their careers these next few weeks!
It feels surreal to be looking at my ID and pager. The love and support from everyone at @UNCCTsurgery and @UNCSurgery is making this transition into residency such a great experience. Time to work hard, remain humble, ask many questions, and learn everyday. 👍🏼🙏🏼 #CTSurgery
Excellent start, if you ask us! We consider ourselves lucky to learn from Dr Ikonomidis — leader in the field of cardiac surgery and pure academic powerhouse —every day! We’ve even learned a thing or two about rock & roll along the way 🎸
