@tam_lani @MarkDever I live in South Korea as well. I agree! Korean culture’s focus is always on fighting things together. If you aren’t acting in the best interest of of the group, the question is, why are you working against the common goal of eradication of this virus?
@mrkenallen@JohnPiper You have misread this. Go back and read the whole story starting with a conversation that takes place between God and Abram. You think this account is awful. Good, so do I. It is written so that you may know the true evilness that lives in this world.
@ConstCampbell @emilygathergood John Chrysostom treats it imperatively based on his reading of 1 Thess. 4:5. "He does not say, “That ye henceforth walk not as ye are now walking,” for that expression would have struck too hard. But he plainly indicates the same thing..."
"The fact that there are such men confessing themselves to be Christians... yet not teaching His doctrines, but those of the spirits of error, causes us who are disciples of the true and pure doctrine of Jesus...to be more faithful and steadfast in the hope..."
Justin Martyr
@tja1944@JohnPiper Shaming John Piper for biblical and sound reasoning? No where do I see anything shameful being written. Instead, I see someone boldly proclaiming Christ as the true king.
@timkellernyc Thank you for your declaration of faith through this suffering. My father just passed away in September from a very rare form of pancreatic cancer. The wound is still fresh, but one thing that my dad said was that he had "no regrets". The cancer gave a clarity that was absent.
Americans who have lived overseas immersed a foreign culture for a lengthy period of time - say, minimum of three years - generally have a VERY different perspective on US politics and religion than those who have not. That's especially true for those of us who served churches.
