Let’s get something straight: the violence against Jews in Australia didn’t come out of nowhere.

When antisemitic hatred — calls for intifada or “resistance,” harassment, vandalism, even arson — is downplayed or tolerated, violence is inevitable.

For years, the Jewish community warned that antisemitism was surging. They spoke out. They asked elected officials and law enforcement to take it seriously. Those warnings were brushed aside.

Today, that failure of leadership has cost at least 11 lives.

Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said 12 dead and 29 people were injured, including 2 police officers who are in serious condition.

He said the attack took place while more than 1,000 people were gathered for a Hanukkah celebration.

Lanyon said the incident was formally classified as a terrorist attack at 9:36 pm.

Israel asked for two child hostages under the age of 5 after they were taken captive by Hamas.

The Palestinians asked for a man who raped an 18 year old girl, beheaded her, and was celebrated for it.

There is no better example of the difference between the two sides.
