Notes to my Nephew

Nobody sent me. That’s what makes this awkward.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

When they suddenly begin to call you an elder, check whether they still invite you to the smaller meetings.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

My nephew,

When a man insists on going the wrong way, you can wish him a safe journey without entering the car.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

It is too early for “Can I be honest with you?”

Good morning first.

Let Uncle sit down.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

My nephew,

A high office can give a man a microphone. It cannot give him the sense to know what not to say into it.

There are people coming to help you who still need a way across.

Nephews, be careful when they praise you for being the only person bold enough to say it.

Ask why they are all so relieved you said it alone.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

My nephew, a seat in the front row is not proof that you were consulted.

Sometimes they just need you in the photograph.

Happy Sunday.

If you are telling me something in confidence, please mention that before I start looking surprised in the group chat.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

Somewhere this evening, a man who said “I don’t like drama” is driving to its house.

[Notes to my Nephew @UncleRedacted]

I was advised to keep my opinions to myself.

Anyway, good evening.
