@mikech141@CLanceFrazier@ewilde1988@sqsehrish I was unclear; I didn't mean half of 500 + 50, i meant divided by half of 500. So 2 + 50. But really, while math can be fun, this problem has very little to do with it, it mostly has to do with the ambiguity when interpreting incorrect english.

@mikech141@CLanceFrazier@ewilde1988@sqsehrish This is true, but when you say "A half" or "one half" the number IS specified. As one. In this case it's not specified (intentionally). So I would argue that the only thing it really can mean in this case is half of 500. That would be the least grammatically incorrect statement.
@CLanceFrazier@ewilde1988@sqsehrish But half isn't anything on its own. It's one half if you mean 1/2. Otherwise the ONLY correct interpretation is half of 500. Att least if you're not making up your own english.
