@TyrannicalHavoc@_TheSmartAlec1 also to be clear, you're saying "spencer was kind of good in the end actually and later on in the timeline when hes being crazy evil in the re5 dlc its alheimerz caused btw" in the grace report also isnt a retcon?
@TyrannicalHavoc@_TheSmartAlec1 "everything makes sense if you just change a bunch of things and pretend like they planned it to be other org with different name and timeline and goals"
I was pretty satisfied with a one-through of re7. I was disillusioned with a one-through of requiem because I was unfortunately expecting more from it based on it being directed by re7 director (re7 had a more solid story structure).
sometimes this metric is bad to use as single player narrative games with good stories have low-replayability /because/ u can get everything out of experiencing them once and feel satisfied with a one time playthrough.
Requiem isn't like that though as the story is pretty weak.
@TyrannicalHavoc@_TheSmartAlec1 proof you can play the games and still be a dumbass on lore details. but as capcom is also always retconning lore it isn't unexpected.
@TyrannicalHavoc@_TheSmartAlec1 but i suppose i can concede you've somehow both played all the games and don't know re7 is the first place the connections are ever mentioned. I'm sure with your extensive collection you can cite the game they appear before re7 in, if you think they do, yes?
done venting I've been seeing the most ridiculous tweets on my timeline tonight about people insisting the lore and story is consistent rarely retconned and that the writing is good when its always so weak. and I mean writing as a whole, not the dialogue. both are so often bad
imagine if leon's ptsd and survivors guilt was shown via him acting more sombre after getting to the rpd rather than still doing one liners. imagine if leon thought grace being fbi was sus as that was remake ada's fake id. even little things could improve the character writing.
you could look are rev2's ending implications with alex's plans as an early template for mind transfer but that had a whole other mechanism and was using a difference virus PLUS we never even got confirmation if that was even happening for real as they just merk zeno's ass
another aside, it felt like a fuck you to outbreak fans especially. alyssa's whole character is different to her former characterization and she gets axed so quick. its like...why bother even using her to intro a new character
"well we need alyssa to get grace" spoilers grace is adopted so no you don't. and not enough of the fandom knows anything about outbreak for it to have been a misdirect about the daylight vaccine, only super nerds (guilty) knew about that and speculated on it.
