Hello from Soma, Japan, to all the umamusume fans around the world! 🇯🇵🐎

We’re thrilled to see so many of you enjoying umamusume and learning about the real-life racehorses that inspired the characters. Today, we would like to introduce you to a special Japanese tradition in which some of these horses continue their journey even after retirement.

It's called the Soma Nomaoi (相馬野馬追), a 1,000-year-old samurai horse festival held every summer in our hometown of Soma in Fukushima Prefecture. During this powerful and historic event, retired racehorses take on a new role, carrying armoured riders in reenactments of traditional cavalry battles.

Here’s a fun fact for umamusume fans: Super Creek has a special connection to Soma Nomaoi. Super Creek's breeder, Mr Kazutane Soma, is the 33rd head of the Soma clan, the family that has preserved this incredible tradition for centuries.

Here, racehorses don't just retire — they become part of living history, continuing to inspire people in a whole new way.

If you ever get the chance, we’d love you to come and see the Soma Nomaoi festival in person. It's a unique experience where the world of umamusume meets the spirit of the samurai.
