Access to quality specialized healthcare is essential for Palestinians.
With support from @EUpalestinians UNDP is expanding and rehabilitating the 27-bed General Surgery Department at Al Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem, strengthening the resilience and financial sustainability of the East Jerusalem Hospitals Network while improving access to advanced surgical care.
In #EastJerusalem, @UNDP, through the IPR III programme, celebrated the newly rehabilitated premises of the Jerusalemite Youth Cultural Forum (JYCF) in Wadi Al Joz.
Supported by #Germany via KfW, this hub provides:
➡️ A safe space for 1,400+ children, youth, & women.
➡️ Cultural/educational activities: Music, Dabkeh & more.
➡️ A boost for social cohesion.
Half of solid waste at Firas Market,#Gaza has been cleared, marking a major step toward restoring this historic commercial hub.
Supported by oPt HF, @eu_echo, and #Belgium, @UNDP and JSC have removed 250,000 m³ of waste, clearing 75% of the market area. These efforts are vital to reducing health risks and helping traders resume their businesses and livelihoods.
Together with the @EUpalestinians , @AVHospital, &the East Jerusalem Hospitals Network, we marked the inauguration of a new Endoscopy Unit and the reopening of the upgraded Adult Kidney Care Unit, in the presence of European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica.
Funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, the initiative strengthens access to specialized healthcare services for Palestinian patients.

In Al-Zeitoun, #Gaza City, farmers are returning to their land growing fresh vegetables despite immense challenges.
With support from Germany, Sweden, and the Republic of Korea, @UNDP provides relief housing units so farmers families stay close to their land & income.
Last week, @UNDP joined partners in Saffa,#Ramallah to launch a new hydroponic fodder project.
Using solar energy & rainwater, this youth-led initiative tackles climate change & feed shortages. A great example of local innovation building resilient livelihoods.
For many families in #Gaza, the spread of pests and insects has become another daily challenge, affecting living conditions and increasing health risks.
Over the past month, @UNDP , with support from the EU through ECHO and in partnership with the WASH Cluster, has continued a comprehensive pest control campaign across more than 1,700 locations to help protect vulnerable communities and safeguard public health.

57.5 million tonnes of rubble and debris cover the Gaza Strip, obstructing access to services, restricting movement, and disrupting daily life.
Debris removal and recycling are critical to early recovery, improving public health, restoring access, enabling mobility, and helping families return to their communities.
Today in Gaza City, @UNDP and @UNEP , as co-chairs of the Debris Management Working Group, brought together key partners to advance a comprehensive and coordinated approach to scaling up debris management efforts across #Gaza.
In #Tulkarm, @UNDP organized a vibrant food exhibition for women-led enterprises through the Investment Programme for Resilience, funded by #Germany via KfW. This programme has now supported over 700 micro-enterprises across the #WestBank, with women leading 69% of these businesses.
@UNDP, in partnership with the Ministries of National Economy, Industry, and Labor, has launched the #Gaza Income and Market Activation for Recovery (IMAR) programme.
We’re moving toward private sector-led recovery to support 20,000 MSMEs and create 100,000 jobs.

Over 150,000 people living near the Al Shallal landfill in #Gaza are now seeing significantly reduced environmental and health risks.
The site has been rehabilitated under @UNDP's Solid Waste Management programme, with support from @KSRelief, to improve safety and stability, mitigating hazards for surrounding communities
One of the biggest challenges facing Palestinians in #Gaza is returning to their places of origin after prolonged displacement.
Through its neighbourhood approach, @UNDP continues to help make this possible by providing dignified temporary housing, restoring basic infrastructure and services, and creating the conditions for safe and dignified return while supporting early recovery.
With support from the Government of #Sweden, these efforts are helping families regain a sense of stability as they begin rebuilding their lives.

470 final-year health students in Palestine are now on track to graduate and join the workforce.

Trainees are transforming used wood into school furniture for temporary learning spaces.
In #Hebron, we are working alongside local communities through our "Area-Based Development" approach to improve access to essential services and create new economic opportunities. With the generous support of the Government of #Germany through KfW, these integrated interventions are transforming daily life.
