The Defence Ministry has condemned the Thai military for firing on Cambodian civilians in Banteay Meanchey province, killing one and injuring three.
Defence Ministry spokeswoman Lieutenant General Maly Socheata said that the Thai soldiers fired on the Cambodians at 3:30 pm in Prey Chan village of Ou Chrov district. The gunfire resumed at 5:54 p.m., with Thai troops continuing their military activities in the area.
Socheata also said Cambodian forces and local authorities present at the scene were unarmed during the incident and focused on ensuring the safety of nearby civilians.

Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata said the attack violated the CambodiaβThailand Peace Agreement signed on October 26, 2025, under the witness of U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Cambodia called the act βbrutal and inhumane,β urging Thailand to halt all hostilities and honor its commitments under the ceasefire and peace declaration. The ministry reaffirmed Cambodiaβs pledge to resolve disputes peacefully in line with international law.
