🇺🇳🇺🇿 Dr. Paullier also stressed the importance of talking openly about the mental health of young people in the context of climate change and youth activism. He left the participants with a piece of advice as they step into adult life: "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. We all learn better when we make mistakes, and innovation emerges when people try unconventional ways of doing things, make mistakes, and try again."

🇺🇳🇺🇿 During #RCOYCentralAsia2026, young climate activists from 9 countries had the opportunity to learn from a wide range of national and international experts on climate change, and to exchange ideas and experiences with one another. The young participants also had a dialogue with Dr. Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, who underlined the importance of RCOYs as a formal mechanism for young people's voices to be heard on the global stage.

🌍 The Statement will be presented to world leaders and decision-makers at the UN global climate summit COP31 in 🇹🇷 Türkiye in November 2026.

💧 Given the strong focus on water-related issues, it will also be presented at the 2026 UN Water Conference in 🇦🇪 Abu Dhabi in December 2026.

🇺🇳🇺🇿 The key outcome of RCOY Central Asia 2026 was the Regional Youth Statement, developed by the conference’s youth organising team based on an online survey that received more than 1,000 responses, as well as in-person and online consultations with young people conducted in each country.

The Statement brings together youth recommendations across 19 thematic areas, including water supply and sanitation, climate change adaptation, climate finance, peace and security, energy, food and agriculture, glaciers and water resources, health, gender equality, and other critical issues.

🇺🇳🇺🇿 The programme features expert sessions, policy discussions, hands-on workshops, dialogues with government representatives, cultural exchange activities, and events highlighting youth-led climate initiatives and green innovation.

Participants will deepen their knowledge of climate policy and governance, transboundary water resource management, glacier melt and desertification. They will also develop practical skills in advancing civic and policy initiatives, conducting policy research, securing funding, engaging stakeholders, and implementing projects.

The Central Asian Sub-Regional Conference of Youth on Climate Change, Water Resources and Sustainable Development - #RCOYCentralAsia2026 - has kicked off in Samarkand, bringing together around 100 young environmental activists and experts from 🇺🇿 🇦🇫 🇰🇿 🇰🇬 🇹🇯 🇹🇲, as well as 🇦🇿 🇲🇳 and 🇹🇷.

The third subregional RCOY Central Asia conference is being held under the theme “Central Asian Youth for Climate, Water and Sustainable Development.” The conference is organised with the participation of independent youth organisations, movements and networks from across the region, following the principle of “youth for youth.”

From inclusive environment to digital learning: transforming schools across Uzbekistan. 🇺🇿

What happens when digital inclusive education and empowered teachers come together?

Through the Vision-2030 Project, 50 model schools across all regions of Uzbekistan are demonstrating how schools can become more accessible, inclusive, safe and digitally enabled. The project supports schools through a whole-school approach — from accessible infrastructure to digital technologies, assistive devices, STEM and robotics, as well as professional development for teachers and school teams.

Most importantly, these changes are about more than infrastructure and technology. They are about creating learning environments where every child — including children with disabilities — can participate, learn and reach their potential:

The 50 schools are serving as models, generating experience and practical solutions that can help inform the scaling of inclusive and digital education across Uzbekistan.

Fathers’ involvement in children’s lives goes beyond financial support. It means spending time together, sharing everyday care and family responsibilities, and supporting the interests and aspirations of both daughters and sons.

These topics were at the heart of a gender-transformative parenting Training of Trainers held this week in Termez. Participants gained practical skills to work with families and promote more equal, respectful and supportive relationships.

The training was held under the “Women’s Economic Empowerment in Uzbekistan” project, funded by @EU_Tashkent, in partnership with @ijtimoiyhimoya, @ihma_markazi, #ColumbiaCenter and #Tashxis<arkazi at @UzeduU, with technical support from @UNICEF_UZB.

Water Quality Management Information System #WQMIS has been introduced in #Karakalpakstan. This pilot will support timely, reliable data and better decision-making, strengthening #WaterQuality monitoring and climate-resilient #WASH services in the region. To use WQMIS effectively and ensure #WaterSecurity, over 90 specialists in the field of sanitary and epidemiology participated in the training in #Nukus.

💚 Since 2024, the Young Climate Champions community has engaged 35,000+ adolescents across Uzbekistan. They have participated in national, regional and global forums, including the UN Climate Conference in Azerbaijan, and met with national leaders to share their achievements.

🌍 Over the coming days, participants will train on environmental protection, climate change, climate governance, leadership and communication.

They will use these skills to raise climate awareness among peers, organise eco-events and inspire climate action in their communities.
