One of my favorite things to do as a studio musician is throw players into the deep end.
Take a guy who’s been playing guitar for 8 years. Good skills. Good chops. Have them play with an absolute monster. A Jedi master.
It’s fascinating to watch and it’s always 3 things.
They walk out mad within 5 min
They muddle through pissed off.
They smile, say “whoa ok” and here we fucking go.

The later are my people. Not friends, per se, but fellow travelers on this path where there is no perfection, but beauty, inspiration, and awe. Frequencies that create the language of music. It’s fucking cool.

This was 1 take. Out of nowhere in 4 hours I captured in my studio using an Allen and Heath CQ18t, chopped up with Studio One, and imported into iMovie. I record everything. You never know when a few minutes of magic will happen. And it’s a good reference diary for later
