Do you have 4 hours a week to help visitors find their way in Union Station and Toronto?
Travellers’ Aid in the Great Hall seeks volunteers to direct people around the complex, the city & GTA, and to help those in need.
Please RT/pass this along. See: https://t.co/SarkLfpzwW 1/2
📷 decorated for the holidays, 1940s.(The city's population was just under 400,000 at the time so this was a significant crowd) @Torontounion@TORailwayMuseum
@TransportAction@eddrass@ONtransport There used to be such a printed compendium, IIRC.
I think it was simply named, after the firm that produced it, and the firm was named for the person who founded it.
The info desk at the old Coach Terminal used it for their reference, and I saw an expired copy.

@TransportAction@eddrass@ONtransport As of latest check:
* Equinox Bus leaves from York Street beside the Royal York Hotel *
* Onex Bus may load curbside at former Coach Terminal AND in front of Great Hall *
* Ourbus leaves from York Street beside the Royal York Hotel *

@311Toronto@TTChelps@eddrass Hi all at TTC & 311. The info on connecting elevators to @GOtransit, VIA, UP, etc., appear to be missing from the link. There are new lifts (in Canada’s busiest transport hub!) that must be included so travellers with mobility needs can plan their trip. @Metrolinx @TTCStuart
The Danish Pastry House has remained open throughout- and yes, still serves coffee— and that cool seed/nut bread whose name is easier to pronounce than you think.

I love how she leans just a bit as the #SocialDistancing icon appears. ¡Brava!
🤗 ..... er, I mean, 😷👍

Since Union Station is trending, I’ll share my pro-tip for those braving the throngs down there. Wait in the VIA concourse to avoid the masses. You can access at least one of the two platforms your train will arrive on. Good luck.
While we are beginning to recover service, with trains running on all GO lines, however we still expect delays and cancellations throughout the evening. Stay tuned for more updates.
Ontario is providing more travel options for passengers in the northwest with the launch of a new @OntNorthland bus route between White River and Thunder Bay. https://t.co/FCkuQMwM7g
Okay okay so, you know how on the new streetcars, you have to hunt forever to find a request stop button?
DID YOU KNOW THE "OPEN THIS DOOR" BUTTON ON THE DOORS, WHEN THE STREETCAR IS IN MOTION, SIGNAL FOR THE NEXT STOP?
BECAUSE I DIDN'T, i watched someone do it today, WOW 🤯
Try other places @unionstationTO for coffee and/or espresso:
The Bagel Stop & Amano Pasta.
Scaccia in the Union Food Court.
The Danish Pastry House and Calii Love serve the black bean juice in the Front St Promenade, where Biscotteria Forno Cultura also offers a special brew.
If you’re used to getting coffee at the temporary Tim Hortons kiosk in Union Station, you’ll need another ritual. The location by security has closed permanently. Nearest Tim’s: Union food court and (24h) on York Street just north of the Royal York Hotel.
@gotransit@Torontounion
You can still find some (lottery-style) TTC day passes around town.
Try variety stores and Shoppers Drug Marts.
It seems the pass would be good for groups today (a statutory holiday), but read the back and perhaps save this photo... in case anyone questions their validity:
@MsJLopez@unionstationTO Exit directly “south” of Union TTC station, going to the area beneath the Great Hall; an area called the Front Street Promenade.
The blog post has a video going TO the subway.

A second route to subway below the Great Hall in Union will be open later this afternoon. The new pathway is just the beginning of the new Bay Concourse. Route takes you down a set of stairs; early in new year escalators & elevators will open to make it accessible
