Beautiful keepsakes, hand printed by the College Librarian, are now available in both libraries.
Please take one! Last year we had Matthew Arnold's 'dreaming spires' quote. What's your favourite quote about Oxford?

We still have our Victorian bookplate (from around 1860), in it's original, velvet lined case. You may recognize the bookplate from some items in our collections!
Our current bookplate was designed in 2011

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our 'illustrations' Rarities Revealed. We loved sharing the beautiful moth endpaper from a 1903 German translation of Wilde's Salome. We also displayed the first illustrated edition of Milton's Paradise Lost, from 1688.
The sun is out, so quiet book club is outside today from 11-12! Please feel free to use the picnic blanket and any of the books ππ

Starting next Thursday (30th) we will be inviting Univ members to join us for a weekly Quiet Book Club π
We hope you can come! It will be running throughout the term. Hopefully we can be outside, taking in the view of the Old Library from the Fellows Garden

Notice anything different about the Old Library from this photo? The downstairs reading room wasn't created until the 1930s; before then the library had one large reading room. The bookcases are the same ones in use today, with their beautiful botanical carvings. #univlibrary
We're delighted to announce the winner and runners up of our poetry competition. Isabel Bentley won with her innovatively formatted Ill-iterate. Our two runners up were Li An Tanβ Hermocopis and Cara Nichollsβ The Woods on My Skin. #universitycollegeoxford#univlibrary#libraries
