One thing that I don’t like about Philippine politics is when critics refuse to see the good things -more often than not they would even go above and beyond just to make things sound bad. The Marcos administration has been reporting its good economic outlook and how things are at the moment but somehow politics are getting in the way of people's appreciation.

Børge Brende, the President of World Economic Forum, said some good words about the President and Philippine economy in a Facebook post! I think he will not be the President of WEF for years if he doesn’t know what he is talking about, right?

Well, that’s not the only statement worth mentioning about the same WEF roundtable discussion:  The Google Philippines Country Manager Jackie Wang said:

“Our reports reflect a lot of what you mentioned about the growth potential and the amazing growth that we’ve seen in the Philippines”. She added that since 2023 the Philippines’ digital economy grew as big as US$23 billion in growth in merchandising value and has a compound “giga growth” of 16 percent”.

It is important to note that the President proudly reported that the Philippines capped the year 2023 “meeting and exceeding expectations of major multilateral organizations such as the IMF, ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office, and the World Bank.” That one technical statement critics cannot say is not true!

According to the said roundtable discussion, the Philippines has the highest GDP growth in all ASEAN including China by the end 2023.

I encourage the supporters of the President to spread this good news because no one else will! This is an underappreciated news but hell of a good one!

The Davao “Prayer Rally” and the baseless rants of the Dutertes!

What was the title of the event again? Hakbang ng Maisug: One Nation, One Opposition. If there is one thing we should be grateful about is knowing who is on our side and who is not. By going there and staying there as the father-son tandem maligned and ridiculed the President…  they are in all intents and purposes part of that whole show.

But honestly? If that is the “force” who showed up for the former President… in Davao no less, I guess they should worry! Maybe the rumor of them losing Davao has some basis. Yun na yun?! Lols.

After being debunked too many times, after a long list of promises broken… who in their right mind would even believe the former President at this point? I have so many things to say about him but let me start with what Mayor Baste Duterte said:

1. Speaking of LAZY… let’s talk about Cong. Pulong Duterte’s attendance in Congress.

The audacity of the mayor to call the President lazy… not even the greatest critics of the Marcoses can say that. The man is a workaholic! Just follow the official pages of the palace, livestream of his engagements and meetings will prove you wrong.

Not even the biggest critics of the Marcoses can deny that we are in so much better shape than we were before. So please cut that crap!

Here’s a challenge to all the supporters of the Dutertes… go through the livestream of all committee hearings and plenary sessions since the 19th Congress started. If you can give me 20 different days of his attendance, I will never write anything against the Dutertes ever again. That’s in almost two years of the 19th Congress ha?

ABSENERO PO SI CONGRESSMAN PULONG! Maybe the Mayor should ask the Congressman to resign instead.

2. Speaking of “Walang pag-ibig at apirasyon para sa bansa”

If we are talking about lack of love for the country, I think the mayor should ask the Vice President to resign instead. I mean seriously… she has time to release statements against the smallest things but not against CCG aggression against our own men.

Will she be firm in asserting our territorial claim? Or she’s scared to offend China? Who is she really serving?

Please don’t let me get started on the things your father left that the current administration fixed.

3. I suggest Mayor Duterte should just focus on actually doing his job

As per the Philippine Statistics Office, Davao’s poverty incidence increased 3x over the past two years. Not to mention the problem with water and the COA flag on the wrong use of development funds.
