@shoefaced@kmacraeplockton You’re avoiding the question. If repeatedly voting SNP over every other party isn’t enough, how else do we measure the democratic will of the Scottish electorate for a second referendum?
@shoefaced@kmacraeplockton Again, how would that evidence be measured? If a consistent and comprehensive SNP majority in every election isn’t enough of a signal, what is?
@shoefaced@kmacraeplockton OK. If a majority vote for a party with a referendum at the heart of their manifesto at consecutive elections doesn’t signal a democratic mandated authority, what does? What’s the alternate route?
@shoefaced@kmacraeplockton The electoral mandate isn’t under dispute. It’s an empirical fact that the party with a manifesto pledge to hold a referendum secured a majority vote. That’s the evidence. The SC will decide whether the UK Government can block the democratic will of everyone who voted.
@shoefaced@kmacraeplockton Agreed. And the mandate to determine that change through a referendum has been clearly signalled by the democratic majority that the SNP consistently win.
@Parsnip15@Dannybroadbent1@bmay Sorry. I still don’t get any of it. In what way is he King by consent? And why is supporting a global effort to avert a climate crisis problematic for politicians and press?
