JUST IN: Quezon City police arrested Dr. Melania Flores, former president of All UP Academic Employees Union (AUPAEU) and a professor at the Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas, this morning, AUPAEU reported. Prof. Flores will be taken to Camp Karingal.

NEWS UPDATE: Former All UP Academic Employees Union National President Prof. Melania Flores was arrested this morning.

According to the union, the police posed as members of DSWD before they presented a warrant citing SSS violations of her house helper.

Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo’s track record speaks for itself. In September 2020, after Chairperson Prospero De Vera admonished him for allowing rallies in UPD at the height of the pandemic, Nemenzo asserted before the UP Board of Regents the people’s right to freedom of expression.
