@yvrairport Xmas eve. Usually a nightmare travel day. @yvrairport is staffed up and @westjet counter staff were efficient, helpful and chatty! Interesting to hear their side of snowstorm. CATSA security lines all open and staffed. One of our better travel experiences so far. Kudos to all!
@GS87 Don’t you love AI. Usually we look to technology to automate mindless tedious tasks - this one is significant - it’s going to change the top end high IQ tasks!!
@GS87@OverstoryMedia The apps (Mastodon or Metatext etc) make it a lot more user friendly. But seems to be quickly evolving as feedback arrives to the developers. Definitely better than a couple of weeks ago.
@GS87 It’s weird watching everyone join and sort themselves out - like watching an entire ecosystem be born in real-time. Ironically prob what exactly the Elon wanted for this hot mess. It’s pretty surreal - like an interplanetary migration after a disaster. 🤣
@GS87 Similar to twitter but a series of decentralized servers. sign onto one but can see all others. Administrators of each server keep them clean - and resilient if one goes down. Conversations and content is so refreshingly normal. I think this is the Wikipedia of content/newsfeeds.
Confusing a new museum with healthcare upgrades or homelessness solutions misses the point that we have billions to spend as a province. These critical investments will happen regardless - depending on the political will and coordination from the private sector
Not a popular vote but BC needs a better/safer museum. $800M is a cup of coffee a year per BC resident. Done well, it will celebrate our indigenous heritage (not the colonialism of current version) and the historic innovations of our province. Prob generate $10M in annual revenue
In 1994, Jeff Bezos famously spotted a stat that made him leave his high-paying PE job to start Amazon:
💡 The Internet was growing 2300% per year.
What are the generation-defining stats of today?
I'll post a few to kick things off...
The lineups on the highway this week have prevented anyone getting to the ferry (reservation or not). Or residents into Horseshoe Bay. Move to 100% reservations. Shift the lineup to the internet. 80% of sailings will still be 20% empty. Works everywhere else in the world.
A North Vancouver man is fuming, noting he was at the BC Ferries Horse-Shoe Bay terminal hours before his sailing Saturday morning. However, he was still stuck waiting, even though he had booked a reservation. He says something needs to change. https://t.co/irPjgp7oW2
Super impressed with the amount of planning it must have taken on the part of @BCFerries & Kona Winds to ensure the Gambier/Keats Stormaway schedule doesn’t connect with Langdale ferry! #smh
